D&D 5E Feats AND Ability increases?

So if I am following you correctly, at 4th level your options would be:

Pick a feat. It is a half-feat so includes a static ASI +1 (some might be dynamic depending on the feat).
Apply a dynamic (i.e. floating) ASI +1.

If you apply the dynamic ASI +1 to match the half-feat ASI +1, you will effectively still have the ASI +2, but the benefits of the half-feat to go with them.

Right?
I think I'd just change the +1 ability of the feat to +2, which would thematically group feats into which ability score/s they're tied to.

I like +2s far more than +1s since a +2 always provides a benefit. Taking a +1 on top of an even score feels so blah.

You know, turning all feats into half feats (if they aren't already) and upping the bonus to +2 would be an interesting middle ground. It's only a +2 to (effectively) +3 differential, it keeps the ASI level from being weakened, and it makes sure choices are interesting (because as much as +2 to your offense stat is useful, it is boring).
Seems like nearly every feat in 2024 will be a half feat.

But your doing that, make it half feat +1/+1.

I.e.
Defensive Dualist, +1 Dex, +1 other, +reaction.
And ban +2.

Fair enough.

I like +2s far more than +1s since a +2 always provides a benefit. Taking a +1 on top of an even score feels so blah.
However, with the two separate ASI +1 you are giving players the option to increase two scores by 1, or apply them both to the same score for the ASI +2 bump.

If you don't want that option for the players, then sure do the +2 ASI for the half-feat instead of +1 and problem solved.

Either way, which feats do you think might become a problem? Lucky? The save proficiency?
None of them IMO, but I know a lot of people tend to feel Lucky, Alert, GWM, Sharpshooter, PAM, etc. have "power" issues.

Feats are so few and far between that, with only a couple gained (4th and 8th IME), even getting +2 ASI with the feat isn't a deal breaker.

As far as how things will work in 2024... no clue, I don't follow it, won't use, and doubt I'll ever even look at it. I've already told everyone I play with not to bother buying them (as least for my games) since I won't use any of the material in them.

It isn't boring to the OP:
Well he can start with 20 in each stat if he wants, and completely ignore all ability score increases.

The feats aren't any different having a 20 vs a 16.

Limited use feats (lucky) will be slightly worse by throwing extra monsters. But not significantly.
