Feats questions / help (metamagic and others)

First Post
Quick background. I am playing a 14th sorcerer at the moment and one level away from my first level of prestige (Archmage). The feats I currently have are Skill Focus: Spellcraft, Spell Focus: Enchantment, Spell Focus: Transmutation, Spell Focus: Evocation, Greater Spell Focus: Evocation (char link at the bottom of the page has all the details)

I am torn about what to choose for my next couple of feats as we will be coming into epic levels soon. Should I continue the path of spell focus, bumping enchantment and trans. up to greater spell focus? Another path I was looking at was Empower Spell and Maximize Spell … I would use these two to attain my first epic level feat, Intensify Spell.

Anyone have any good pros/cons they can give me, or perhaps some experience from usage in the past? I am fairly new to D&D so I don't really have much of a clue as to what is good/bad/benificial ...

Unless your spellcraft is really low, forget about skill focus Spellcraft. You can always place more skill points in the skill if you think you really need them.

Spell Focuses are always good. AS a sorcerer you should look at what spells you have and what spells you are going to get to figure out what school is best for you. Greater spell focus is nice as it leads to epic spell focus.

Meta magic spells are also very good. Enpower is one of the best as you can apply it more then once. Also, there is a epic feat that lowers the increased spell level of meta magic feats. That compined with Empower is extremely powerful.

Couldn't avoid skill focus Spellcraft as it was a requirement for the prestige I am after ... though I would have gladly passed it up if allowed :D

I did not know that you could apply a metamagic feat more than once ... would that double the cost of the spell you would need to burn to do that?

Yes. So, empower once is +2 spell levels, empower twice is +4 spell levels. Each empower only modifies the base spell. So, if you're fire ball did 40 points of damage, each empower would add an additional 20, or for a grand total of 80.

what about Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration? you should be facing plenty of bad guys with spell resistance. combine these feats with the archmage's spell power ability, and your spells will be irresistible!:D

Mr Fidgit ... I never even thought of that avenue. I will look into that, as one of my concerns was resistance.

Thanks :D
