My wife told me 4e looked "kind of lame," "dorky," and "too much... I don't know what. Something you don't want too much of."

UPDATE: I just asked her what her impressions of 4e were. Although I can't be sure of the spelling, it was something along the lines of:

BLEUUUUUGGGGHHH

As a female gamer & DM, I had the pleasure of running 4e on Sunday. I liked how easily it was to modify KoTS - I wanted to change a couple of encounters for flavor. There was some roleplaying going on, which I think will increase once the guys get used to the new rules and don't have to focus on them as much.

Also, dealt with the Dragonborn females and breasts per the request of one of my male PCs playing a male Dragonborn. I ruled breasts out, and changed the Dragonborn reproduction to match more common reptile reproduction. He now gets to fertilize the eggs after the female lays them. :)

How do women feel about the class choices in the 4e PHB? Female gamers in my games have shown a preference for playing bards, druids, and rogues. Does anyone feel limited by a starting selection that nixes 2/3 of the common starting choices?

4E is a car that's been sanded down to the metal to reduce wind resistance. Okay, maybe that shade of beige wasn't the most attractive color on a car, but the lack of any paint at all is much more alarming. Still, we can drive around in it okay, and while we're on the inside we're going to imagine that it looks totally sweet, just like we did when it was beige.

Certifiably,

Eh. Your avatar looks NOTHING LIKE a woman.

Damn, that's an excellent question!

...Even if it is shaped by anecdotal evidence only- women in my campaigns have run rogues, fighters, mages and paladins almost to exclusion.

What the female players in my campaigns did more often than their male counterparts, though, was multiclass their PCs to 3 classes and beyond- again, something not supported by 4Ed rules.

Again, anecdotal...but it begs the question...

I wonder if there is a real statistical difference between the genders when choosing their PC's classes and the amount of multiclassing they do?

One trend I'm noticing in the thread which my anecdotal evidence also supports...

My wife skimmed through the books and immediately started prepping to DM a campaign. Something she hasn't done since 2nd edition.

I find it amusing that a large number of replies in this threada have been made by MALES.

And here I was hoping to hang out with some gamer chicks. ;)
