"Well, I can share a watch with someone, if you like. I do not need a full 8 hours, but I am not very useful in a fight, so I'd rather not have my own watch."

A gentleman wearing an elaborate tabard bearing the Vaneelkelen coat of arms gallops up on a horse from behind. His horse slides to a stop and pirouettes behind the line of wagons, and after a moment he catches sight of Oihandir. Trotting over to the bard, the messanger hands over a letter.

Oirhandir tipped his hat to the messenger, truly Rupert thought of everything. Oirhandir asked if he could return a message, and wasn't surprised when the messenger produced pen, paper, and a bit of sealing wax. Declining the wax, Oirhandir quickly penned two messages.

Greetings to your munificence, Mr. Vaneelkelen:

Thank you for your kind consideration and thoughtful arrangements. I regret that pressing business takes me away from Orussus, I should have liked to have presented our findings in person. Please enjoy the additional maps of the region that we delivered, penned by the claw of no less than the only dragon to infest the area in centuries.

Here's wishing to more successful endeavours in the future. If I can be of any further assistance, please leave word with Mr. Joe Smith of the Red Dragon Inn.

Yours, Oirhandir

Dearest Ignatious:

My sincere apologies for leaving without a proper goodbye. Please give my regards to Rogier, Almayce and the rest. I should like to treat you all to a round of fine eleven wine and music when I return from points south.

If you would be so kind, please leave my share of the proceeds from the last adventure in Joe's care. I understand that such arrangements are familiar to him. Please purchase the two scrolls from my share of the profits, unless you would prefer to have them for yourself.

Looking forward to traveling with you again.

Sincerely, Oirhandir

P.S.: If you decide to have those scrolls for yourself, please copy them carefully. I wouldn't want you to end up casting a spell that directs arrows directly to you!

Oirhandir instructed the messenger that the first message was for Mr. Vaneelkelen, and the second was to be left with Joe Smith at the Red Dragon if Ignatious O'Reilly could not be located.

Wow! Your last adventure, Mr. Oirandir, must have been incredible!

Oirhandir hearkened to the young wizard. "Well, I didn't think so at the time", he replied. "Mostly, I was worried that it would all turn out to be naught." He grinned, bemused at the twists of his own fortune. "And in a way, it did turn out for naught. But such things have a way of taking care of themselves." He paused, then suggested, "Perhaps that tale would be a fine one to hear around the camp fire tonight."

A messanger riding a fast horse rides into your camp while you are taking a break. He dismounts his horse, and hands Oihandir a note.

Sheepishly, Oirhandir mentioned to his companions that he had not intended to leave Orussus so quickly, but didn't want to disappoint or delay Ingus. The sharper eyed among them noted that the tips of his long ears turned a delicate shade of pink.

The even sharper eyed companions noted that although he had very carefully rolled up Rupert's note and stowed it amidst his personal effects, the elf simply took this latest message, turned it over, and penned a hasty reply on the back.

Dearest Ignatious:

Thank you again for thinking of me. Sadly, I have no use for those pipes, as I have never studied that type of instrument. Feel free to purchase them yourself if your interests lie in that direction.

I have already sent another message entrusting you and Joe with my share from our last adventure. Joe is a good man, so you need not worry.

I should be away for several days or a few weeks. If you are in Orussus when I return, it would be my great pleasure to entertain you for an evening, and perhaps to travel together again some time.

Yours, Oirhandir

The bard gave the messenger a couple of silvers for his trouble, and waved as he sped off back to Orussus.

"Sunny, how 'bout ya take th' first watch, an' Oirhandir, how 'bout ya do th' last. Sound good?"

"Mr. Delmontes", the elf replied. "That's a good plan, but I have a suggestion. As I do not require sleep as do men, it is my practice to provide soothing music in the evening to help my companions rest. I then take a watch, and wake my successor when it is his turn." He repeated his point for emphasis. "Would anyone mind if I took the first watch and Sunny the last? I'm sure he'd be grateful for a good night's rest", intoned the elf while glancing at Sunny and inclining his head in that direction.

Bront:[sblock]I just wanted to let you know, I've gotten the experience from Pbartender and updated Oirhandir's character sheet. I sent Nimisgod and Knight Otu an email asking them to look it over, so it's not approved yet. Just let me know when you want me to update the "quick reference post" at the start of this thread, I'll be happy to do that.[/sblock]

"Er, yes... I, well, I need my rest too... even us fighter-types like to, well, you know... I fight best with 8 hours sleep, as it were... Perhaps I could share last watch with Fang? I could go so sleep a bit early, and get my beauty sleep as it were, then watke and watch with old' Fang there? Or your suggestion was good too, we swap our watches... perhaps your could join me in the last watch?"

[Obviously Sunny knows he needs his sleep as well -- how about this as a watch order as suggested by Oirhandir --:

[Oirhandir, Troi, Fang, Sunny]

"Although Oirhandir," Sunny says, "I'm not sure exactly how much or how little sleep you need...but I would not at all be adverse to a little company on the last watch. I'm a talker, you see... of cousre, I understand if you need to sleep as well!!!!"

[Sunny is attempting to ask for the following watch:

{Oirhandir, Troi, Fang, Sunny&Oirhandir} without losing much face]

What about us motioning to Lasair just because we don't have swords, it doesn't mean we don't have eyes.

If we extend it out two hours, then everyone can get eight hours of sleep and I can prepare spells during last watch and Lasair can join whichever watch she wants to.

"Me'd love teh hav' company durin me watch" Fang responded. "Surein Sunny make me watch mos'enjoyable."

"But ol'Fang also have a suggest to make" Fang continued while point to his eyes. "Dese peepers see good at night. Dey good for darker watches."

OOC- I suggest putting those with darkvision on the middle watches. Low-light or normal vision should be the bookends.
OOC2- Should we post more then once a day.

Heh. Don’t worry Fang we already covered that.

[sblock] OOC If you can post more than once a day, go for it. If not, then we understand. There is no required minumum or maximum to how much you post. At least not that I've seen. And no one will think less of you... except me;)[/sblock]

OOC: What Logics Fate said. I've tried to keep the adventure from running away from anyone not able to post more than once a day, and I know it will also slow down on the weekends.

Also, You'll likely have 9-10 hours to rest, depending on how quickly you go to sleep after dinner. It's fall (Isn't it wonderful how the season may/may not change rapidly per the GM's will?), so nights are begining to get longer.
