Feynger-Multiclass concept

WOLead

First Post
This came up when I was comparing a Ranger to a Warlock class as Strikers.
Gimmick: Enemies do not fear you, they don't even know you. To them, you are as substantial as the Shadow of an Arrow and the happy whistling they hear when they discover the massacre you leave in your wake.

"Mad you say? Mad I might be, for I done what none would believe. Enough of the sway, let us get to the pay. For you seek for a job which cannot be seen, and the choice of dealing amongst fey are sharper then keen. With the right price, so the words will be spoken thrice, the poor soul will hear death's voice of ice." - Nicodemus
Basically, this is an attempt at a ranged and stealthy assassin. The Warlock's Shadow Walk gives you concealment to hide in each time you move at least 3 squares away, giving you the concealment needed to stay hidden or rehide. You throw Warlock Curses amongst your foes then pepper them with arrows, then move to hide amongst the concealment once again. Misty Step is used to keep an enemy guessing just where you are when you hide, Warlock's Leap is used to teleport past the guarded door so the guard's won't notice it opening as you pass by. Invisibility from Eyebite and Infuriating Elusiveness is used for emergency hiding/concealment. And the Ranger's attacks to pack a devastating punch against one target that has to die fast or to take advantage of String of Fate for multiple attacks against 10 Vulnerability. Delusions of Loyalty is also a nice option, as you can prevent one target from taking any standard action at the cost of one turn's standard action and any follow-up turn's minor action to sustain it. Though if someone does successfully Spot you and makes an attack at you, the poor deluded target under its power will attempt to make a basic attack against him for you.

A Ranger could do roughly the same, though they must find natural cover rather then take advantage of concealment given by just moving so many squares.

Any comments or discussions if I got my rules wrong? Or maybe a change that could work better. I might just be completely wrong with the Shadow Walk.

Huh, looking through the MM, I'm tempted to change the race to Drow and then laugh as he shows up as an enemy NPC that the party has to deal with. Never head on, but attempting to protect a mark the Drow version is trying to take out.

Without seeing the full text of all those powers (and no, I'm not asking you to post them), I think this would be a pretty awesome build for a stealthy killer/vigilante type.

AFAIK, your proposal works just fine with Shadow Walk--just remember that if that concealment goes away, so does your Stealth check, so make sure you're always moving or teleporting at least 3 squares every round, or ending your turn behind actual cover or concealment.

All in all, this dude looks like a potentially scary ninja type.

yes sir you can. to be precises, with the right pre-reqs you can replace any of the 3 types, at-will, encounter or daily.
Except I don't believe the character has the prereques. The only way to swap out at-wills (AFAIK) is to multiclass instead of PPing, which this character hasn't done.

You can either do the at-will swap with paragon multiclassing OR have a real paragon path (like feytouched). So no, the character ain't legal.

The three types you can swap using feats are encounter, daily, and utility. You can't replace at-wills using feats.

Not to mention it would take 21 levels to pull this off. Unless you are starting at level 21 in an epic campaign, not worth the effort IMHO.

I think this is going to be the new trend. In 3E we saw cool multiclassing builds off all levels. Want a specific build you could reach within 5 or 6 levels, you got it. But in 4E it seems the only multiclassing builds that are going to be worth it are level 11+ or 21+, and I don't know very many campaigns that ever get that far.

Ah, you are right. So I need to drop the Feytouched stuff and replace them with more Ranger skills instead. Let me edit that.
