For things that Lovecraft kept saying were "utterly indescribable" it seems that there are an awful lot of physical depictions.
Yeah - wait until I paint "the Colour Out of Space" - its whole premise is that it blows your mind just by seeing it.For things that Lovecraft kept saying were "utterly indescribable" it seems that there are an awful lot of physical depictions.

I dunno - metallic pinks and blues and stuff?
I wonder if anyone makes a "chameleon paint" for minis? If you're wondering what that it, it's a paint used on vehicles that has metallic flakes in it, that makes it look like a different colour as the viewing angle changes.Yeah - wait until I paint "the Colour Out of Space" - it's whole premise is that it blows your mind just by seeing it.

You might be able to see them better by using a point source light, rather than the way that you would normally shoot a mini.Vallejo calls them color shifter, Tirbo Dork makes some, and other companies call them something else.
I used two different color shifters for the robes. They work best on larger curved surfaces and don’t photograph well. I used color shifters on the wings of the silver dragon I posted a few pages back.

They'll want to look up articles or how-to videos on Object Source Lighting. Without an airbrush you can still do heavier highlights in the color of the glowing object/energy beam on surfaces facing the source of light. Not mine, but a friend wants to know how to make the PPC effect from the arm cannon "glow" more. Does not have an airbrush. (This is a recreation of the Game of Armored Combat box from Battletech.)
