Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

While I was painting that snail, I kept wanting to paint it's teeth a metallic color for some reason. While looking at the snail last night, it dawned on me it's a xenomorph snail. I'm pretty sure someone sculpted that to resemble a xenomorph from Alien.

Havent been posting much lately but ive been super busy printing and painting terrain for an upcoming convention. I have 42 and maybe up to 44 players for my all day event. So, I need to build at least 20 maps.

I don't build a lot of terrain, but I love it! We always used flat maps for BTech and it's nice to see buildings and hills.

The hit last night were the cactus minis. I have been working around the clock and feel like I might not finish (I will!).

I have a moon map and I was wondering how I was going to have LOS impedments like wooded hexes. Well...

This is just a reminder about opacity and the importance of a good base coat. I'm putting the flesh colored base, Shadow Flesh from Pro Acryl, over a rather dark grey. On the left, you see one coat of flesh color. Notice the paint isn't completely opaque as you see the grey coming through on the right (your left) side of the mini. On the left, I've put down three coats of flesh and you can't really see the grey coming through. When layering, unless you're wet blending or something like that, make sure the previous layer has a chance to dry before you slap a new one on.

Still working on skiin. I put on a few layers of lighter skin and finally a flesh wash on the left half.

As of yesterday (and for the first time since I started painting minis in earnest in 2020), I have painted every single mini I have to be painted. Sure, there are things in a giveaway box and a some stuff to be broken up repurposed for crafts, but in terms of every mini intend to paint and currently possess? They are painted.

But don't worry I got a shipment notification today from an etsy seller who put some cool figs in the mail for me.
