Our party used a bag of holding for exactly that purpose; but then discovered that he'd been killed and turned into a vampire, so we ended up with a vampire in the bag instead.

I think my favorite thing that I put in there was a thunderstone.

When he dumped out the bag to see what's inside, BOOM!

And now he's deaf.
