Finally! Dungeon Tiles! But...

So... DungeonLinX: Lair of the Dragon God just came out, in record time!

Go check it out - you definitely can't complain that these guys don't show you what's in their sets. There's a beautiful flash movie on the web page, there's also a pdf to drool over at your leasure, there's an interactive Model Planner with small versions of all the tiles that you can layout in a flash app, and on top of all that there's also a freebie tile you can download to get a feel of the amazing 300 dpi textures.

If I counted them right, there's 32 floor tiles (7x7", plus some corridors), four "pitfall" inserts, one 7" 3D dragon, 3 sets of doors, and two lava outflow channels.

All for $10...

Some RHoD tiles for download here
Any chance of regenerating those tiles from the original map files? Right now they're essentially blow-ups of the larger maps, at 72 dpi but with heavy rastering artifacts that make it look more like 36 dpi.

I'm guessing you could probably get much better quality tiles if you go back to the original art files...

They are scans from the product at 300 dpi, cleaned up as possible and necessary, and made into PDFs so that I can get them easily printed for my game table and players. They are as good as they get with my equipment and the source material available. Some look a bit better than others but all of them look pretty good.

WotC hasn't made those available.

Ah - I don't know squat about Red Hand of Doom, so I assumed this was a CMG product. Of course, I could just have read past the first sentence in the post, but that would have required - you know - work, and would have gotten in the way of me blindly spouting my opinion. :D

I see there's a Map Gallery for RHoD that has those same maps. They're about 24dpi when scaled to 1" squares, but they actually look a lot better when zoomed in than the 72dpi scanned versions you posted.

Plus I'd feel rather queezy about scanning in a commercial product, unless there's some sort of agreement with WotC involved here that I don't know about. They may have made the maps available online, but that doesn't mean they're public domain, right?

Reversible Gaming Tiles: The Upper City 1
Reversible Gaming Tiles: The Upper City 2

Are now available at the Rackham store. :)
It's worth noting that each pack contains 15 reversible tiles of one foot square each. Urban/outdoors tiles usually have one face with day light and the other face with the same location at night.

Before I get into DLinX I would like to address an issue a few of you have brought up. I know some of you are still leery of the PDF “print and play” terrain market but if there is one thing I can guarantee it’s that once you try it you’ll be hooked for life. After you take the leap and start using ink refill kits the cost is mere pennies per page, which translates into you printing off massive terrain environments for next to nothing (just check out some of the incredible user builds in our ‘User Pictures’ section of our site for proof of that

Cool. It's easy and it costs mere pennies a page.

So, your company can do that little bit of work for me, add on a reasonable mark-up for labor and materials, and I can buy them from you directly.
