Fireball vs Glittering Dust

Arrrgh,

Though ye may have a devil's task searchin' for rules' backin' ye up, I'd sure be the type of captain who'd let a wizard cast just in time to catch another wizard about to blow 'im up. Not only does it make for good sports, but I've never trusted them magical types. Wouldn't want to cross 'em if I could avoid it. (you might wake up to find yourself on the poop deck with your hands stuck in a bunghole! Arrrrgh!)

Thanee, I'd require a spellcraft check to recognize the spell while casting. If the wall-of-stone wizard knows the spell is coming toward him, then he can attempt to interrupt it, but I'd allow the fireball wizard to change the target once the wall is up, too.

Disregard how one might know and just assume he does... if someone says "I ready an action to cast glittering dust in the path of a fireball that is about to be cast" what happens?

What happens is this
Enemy casts Fireball
Players casts glitterdust at somepoint along the fireballs path.
Both spells have their normal effect.
The two spells do not interact.

As an aside readied actions can do naughtythings like happen mid action.:
Example: "I ready an action. The next time an enemy comes within 10' pf me I will move my normal move in (specified) direction"
Result: Enemy charges and as part of the charge moves within 10'. The readied action now occurs and may move the player out of the range of the enemy's charge or otherwise prevent the charge (for instance by requiring the enemy to change direction).

Majere
Once readied a move on 5 pouncing velociraptors, denying them a whole round of combat when they all acted simultaineously !!

hmmm. instead of casting glitterdust, i'd probably cast something to distract the wizard/sorcerer or hit him with a rock. or do an obscene dance. Anything to distract the casting and make it fizzel. then kill the darn wizard/sorcerer.
