Yes! I didn't get into Firefly at all until the DVD's were released and have held off watching the last DVD in the set because I didn't want see it end. Now that I know about the movie, I'm watching that last DVD when I get home from work tonight.

Deals have already been ironed out for the majority of FIREFLY's cast to reprise their roles in the movie, including Nathan Fillion (Malcolm Reynolds), Gina Torres (Zoe), Jewel Staite (Kaylee), Adam Baldwin (Jayne), Sean Mahar (Simon) and Summer Glau (River). Not mentioned in Variety's article were cast members Alan Tudyk (Wash) or Ron Glass (Book).

No mention of Morena Baccarin (Inara) either.

Please, oh please, let this have been a simple oversight. As much as I love this show, not having Inara in the movie could be a deal-killer for me. Hyperbole? Perhaps, but this is concerning news indeed.

According to IGN and the article below, she is in it.

The original characters will be joined by new characters created expressly for the film. Exactly who is returning? Nathan Fillion is set to reprise his role as Captain Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds, Gina Torres will be back as Zoe Warren, Morena Baccarin returns as Inara Serra, Jewel Staite as Kaylee Frye, Adam Baldwin as Jayne Cobb, Sean Maher as Dr. Simon Tam and Summer Glau as River Tam.
That just leaves out Wash & Book. I really hope they are all there but I'll take 7 out of the 9 original cast against nothing any day...

such a shame. i agree with Monte Cook. i'm not really eargerly anticipating a movie. it'll be nice to have, but Firefly was perfect episodic TV. a movie is just one long episode. not really enough to get me excited. now if that episode leads to a new series, or a continuation of the previous one, that'll make me happy.

still, one is better than none, i suppose.
