Wow that really came out left field. That's great news!! 
Hmm, I think this pretty much ensures that the TV series will be reborn sometime in the distant future (providing the movie does well of course).

Don't get too excited until we hear that the thing is actually filming. Hollywood jerks these kinds of projects around all the time.
Still, it's good news even should it not come to pass - it demonstrates that the suits are becoming aware of Firefly's growing fanbase.
And I still have not seen the show.

Actually, quite the opposite. Historically, shows that end go to movies almost never go back to TV. If Firefly is making the jump to movies, chances are it will not be on TV again.

Thisone isn't following anything like a standard pattern, so it's anyone's guess how things will go forward. Maybe it'll just be one movie. maybe it'll be a series of movies. Maybe it'll jump back to TV as a series of telemovies. Maybe it'll go back to being a series. The universe is filled with possibilities.
