Wanted to know what people would recommend for a good exciting 1st 3E Adventure. Have like 3 players starting all level 1. Was thinking about The Sunless Citadel, anything else?

3 Days to Kill is a good, quick adventure that could bring the PCs together and has a lot of room for future adventures if the DM gets creative.

I really like this adventure, and of the frew new modules I've run this one I and my group had the most fun with. It's very adaptible with good ideas to expand the area and have other adventures.

" whispering woodwind" by creative montain games ( www.creativemountaingames.com ) is a good one. it is designed for 2nd lvl characters but the whole thing is made scalable (which i would like to see more of as a consumer) so that it could fit 1st lvl characters, up to probably fourth.

check out the whole site, lotsa goodies there for free you could start your party with to prepare them for it too. ;)

I liked Sunless Citadel, though Three Days to Kill also seems cool (never got to run it, since another would-be GM wanted to run it, and never did).

Well, make it short so you can shove 'em in the Tomb of Abysthor at 2nd level. (: Random plug for Orcfest if you have new players and are a new DM. Otherwise, IIRC, Swords and Sorcery and Necromancer Games have free **good** first-level download adventures you can use. Heck -- Shouldn't be too hard to combine them into a larger adventure...

I recommend Of Sound Mind, by none other than our own Piratecat (written under his "secret identity" name, "Kevin Kulp"). It's an excellent adventure, with the only possible drawback being that you've only got 3 PCs. Piratecat's said before that the adventure is a little on the tough end of the scale for 1st-level PCs, so you might want to add an NPC or two to boost the party's firepower. The module can be run either with or without psionics, and it even comes with its own counters!

Or, if you like puzzle-based adventures, you could try Gorgoldand's Gauntlet, originally published in Dragon Annual #5 but also available here for free. (You'll have to scroll down the page a bit to find it; the adventures are listed alphabetically.)

Dunno about rite of passage, but the other suggestions have been good. I certainly think Whispering Woodwind is nice and different enough to get new players into both campaign and understanding of the rules.
