First Dark Sun Excerpt!!!

kinda disappointing for an excerpt

This was already posting on someone's blog, this is in the encounters stuff, and this was in the FreeRPGday adventure....

And not everybody reads the blog, or has played in this season's D&D Encounters adventure or in the Free RPG Day adventure.

For me it's "disappointing" in the drat I know this already sense... not the WoTC is doing something wrong sense.
Exactly, I didn't mean Rage Rage against the WOTC I just meant I was excited and looking forward to seeing something I hadn't already seen and thus I was let down

I would have prefered like a theme and a link to this, or this and a theme, somethin...

1: Who is Frank?
2: Can I still be Abyssal?

1. Frank might possibly be one of the new people that was discouraged by the poor quality of the Encounter material (encounter building as well as editing). It should be a lot easier for a novice DM to run the encounters as written and instead I think novice DM's just killed a lot of people.

2. Abyssal is a state of mind.

Sheesh, what an anticlimax. I think that excert succeeded in telling me everything I already knew...from when I played it 2nd edition! Not to mention it only re-iterated what other recent information releases have stated.

Hopefully the next info release will contain something a little juicier

Goliaths—or half-giants, as they are commonly known—are...

BOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I liked everything I was reading right up until that point! It would be like saying "halflings, which are also known as gnomes, are riverboat nomads who love to wear shoes..." when they released 4.0. They could save themselves some effort to actually make a gnome race & silence complainers that "gnomes were extinct" at the same time by doing it, but they didn't because they wanted to do it right, instead of cutting corners. The rest of the stuff looks good, but I don't like this kind of stuff. Actual real half-giants are a part of Athas, and shouldn't be swept under the sand.

What's next? "Thri-Kreen, also known as Half-Orcs, are..."

As someone only familiar with the very basics of DarkSun (-having never played in a DS game, much less read any of the 2E material) I enjoyed the preview. I was already convinced to buy it, but now I think I'll get my pre-order in :D
