First Time Warmage, looking for ideas

Duskblade is from PHB II. I already said the PRC was from "Age of mortals". Why wont your DM allow setting specific stuff? Any setting specific details are easily converted to whatever world you have. Infact i could copy paste that PRC's text, remove the bits about raistlin and the order of high sorcery, put it into complete arcane and chances are it will be accepted into your game.

Well, he says its to make sure that the playing field is level for all players- no one can get an advantage by having a particular book that the other players don't have. This is quite legitimate.

However, after 20 years, I know him better than that. He simply doesn't like new stuff much.

When it comes to gaming, he's extremely conservative. He refuses to learn any RPG besides D&D. This will be his first 3.5 campaign- up until late last year, he refused to even buy a single 3.5 book. He was the last in our group to run 2Ed, and even then, he didn't use kits. It took him years to try Forgotten Realms, and he ran precisely one DarkSun adventure.

So the Duskblade is out, and unless he's got it, so is the Dragonlance stuff.

Personally, I don't have Age of Mortals, just the basic book- I'm not a huge Dragonlance fan- but as I recall, he liked it more than I did. So its possible that he actually does have it...but not really likely.

We had to provide errata for the war mage PrC, since it was too powerful as written. We put a limit on how many times per day Battle Magic could be used to 3 + Con modifier, and noted that it wasn't affected by Empower Spell et al since it's a fixed bonus and not a variable one. This appears in Towers of High Sorcery.

Cheers,
Cam

I have a question for those who didn't like my combo of War/Ftr/EK. Since EK requires proficiency in all martial weapons, it practically begs that you take one of the PHB warrior classes. With this as a given, would you have:

1) taken another base class to meet that prereq;

OR

2) would you have taken a different second class in order to qualify for a different PrCl;

OR

3) would you eschew multiclassing the Warmage?
