Fluid E-Tools Forums Paralysed?

First Post
Hello there!

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing an inability to post or reply on the Fluid messageboards? No new post has been made since yesterday.

I'm hoping that this gets fixed, since this is where the patch should, theoretically, be downloadable from in the future. It's also a great place to find people's homebrew files...

Hope they upgrade to a new server or whatever!

I've been having the same trouble. I've been trying to upload some .rac and .mon files from the MotP, but it keeps timing out. I check back every now and then to see if they are better, but so far its pretty yucky over there.

Thaumaturge.

Im not real certain what they are trying to do as far as patching the bad stuff on ETOOLS. I wonder if they just got tired of hearing all that negative stuff and being flooded with bug reports??? :D

The Fluid site started to experience problems over the weekend. If I remember right I was have difficulty replying to post on Saturday evening. Eric, the adminstrator, is aware of the problem and is most likely trying to get it fixed. The problem is due to their software that they are using.

Here is what Eric wrote about the slowness problem of their message boards:
The heart of the issue is that we are unable to use a standard database for the message board because our host doesn't support anything. From the developers of this message board I get that over 80 users is where the slowdown starts, its because when you read and post it does a user check to see if you are allowed to do whatever you are trying. Another solution on that would be to remove registered users which isn't a good option.
I do not think their message boards where designed to handle the traffic that the E-Tools was going to generate and the database partially died on them.

Oh, I see. If Apple would hurry up and use the latest version of Java they could upgrade to the next version and it would run much faster. :)

OMG! Your joking right! Right...

No offense to the guys at Fluid, but their messageboard already was really bad on my eyes and extremely slow to boot, i really avoided going there (which is really a shame)...

But COME ON! If your host doesn't support the right software (or anysoftware) then it's time to move. Fluid isn't a small time operation, it ain't bioware either, but i would have expected something a little bit more professional from people who make software for reasonably big corporations (WoTC). There are many really good message board systems out there that do not have to cost an arm and a leg, take a look at this board for example...

I really wondere if they expected the software they where using to hold up to a D&D community? If they did, what where they thinking! If not why not upgrade sooner?

It's been clear for a while that demand (and therefore, user base) was underestimated for this product. There were probably too many people from WOTC and Fluid hanging around this boards watching people complaining about the feature set reduction and saying, "Well, I won't buy it." :D

Fluid's message-boards are broke. They're working on a solution, but it's taking a while. Their web-host is apparently not making it easy to fix the problems, and of course, they're working on the patch too, I doubt they're getting much sleep over there! ;)

In the meantime, perhaps we could get some productive discussion going on ENworld? Most of what I've seen so far on here has been arguementative, flames, trolling, etc. :).

I guess I should post something useful, myself, eh? :)
