Hi-

Designing a 6th level rogue, 5th level monk and I am at a loss on how many attacks he gets with his flurry of blows ability.
How does it work?

thanks

With a BAB of +7/+2, right? Flurry of blows grants one extra attack, each at -1. So, three attacks at +6/+6/+1.

Assuming you aren't going the TWF chain.

Hi-

Looked on table 3-1 nd it looks like a BAB of +8/+3 for a character with a total of 11 levels.

You're calculating his BAB wrong.

Calculate each class's BAB separately, and then add them. Do *not* look at a single table and extrapolate from there.

A Rogue 6 has a BAB of +4. A Monk 5 has a BAB of +3. In total, he has a BAB of +7 / +2.

Because really what you do is add the first number. When the first number gets to +6, you get a second attack which is at a -5. That's why it always goes from +5 to +6/+1.

So when you add the +4 from Rogue and the +3 from Monk, you get +7. The second attack is at a -5, so that's +2. +7/+2.

EDIT: Oh, and the same thing happens at +11 and +16. You get third and fourth attacks at -10 then -15 (from the first). You can probably figure that out from the table, but just wanted to make sure.

Hi guys;

Thanks for the help guys, but how did you get +2 for the rogue/monks second attack?

scott

Because you get extra attacks (Iterative attacks) when your BAB gets high enough. The second (third, etc.) attack is at -5 from the previous one. So when your total BAB is +5, you get one attack. When the BAB becomes +6, you get two, +6/+1. You are at +7, so it is two attacks at +7/+2..

Hi-

Once more guys, thanks for all the help, much apprecieated. Anyway, I figured out I think haw many attacks in regards to flurry of blows this guy gets. First he's a 6th LV Rogue/ %th LV monk, so his BAB is +7/+2

Now, cross indexing the +7/+2 which the monk would get at 10th level, he gets a flurry of blows attack of +7/+7/+2.

Hopefully I did that right, man I think this edition is an accountants dream sometimes.

No, that's not right. A 10th-level monk has a better flurry of blows ability. At level 9, the penalty for flurry of blows is 0 so you get the extra attack for free. At level 5 monk, the penalty is -1. So your normal attacks for that character are +7/+2 (as was described above) and for a flurry of blows attack they are +6/+6/+1 (applying the -1 penalty to each attack).

I hope that makes some sense.

Hi-
Thank Shadeus, I'm tracking now.
