Football Friday night?

Ugh, Rodrigo, don't tell me you're a Giants fan. I get enough of that at home. :p

Glass: I'm not gonna go hang out in a bar by myself, but if I could get a bunch of cool people together, that'd be fun. :)

Dad's from Philly, Mom's from Jersey. Mom's a bigger football fan, Dad's a bigger college hoops fan. So I got the NY Giants from Mom, and Big 5 basketball from Dad.

Which one gave you teh ugly?

Go Giants!

Oh, wait ...

I am totally not into pre-season football. It's not even real football. You can't tell if a team or any player is going to be good and none of the guys will certainly be on the roster play at full speed. All I hope for from the pre-season is that no one from my team gets hurt.

That said, if enough football fans are gathering before the ENnies, and I believe my last scheduled game for the day will be out @ 6pm, I may be up for gathering. I was kinda hoping to play Friday night by ear as I'm not really huge into actually attending the ENnies (I know zero about the industry).

Pre-season football isn't so much about watching your team, it's about watching the teams your team is going to play during the regular season and hoping their star player blows out a knee in the first series. It's about looking for the sleeper pick for fantasy football. It's about celebrating the fact that after the long, dismal post-March Madness malaise that is baseball/NBA playoffs/NHL Playoffs/Golf, there is finally a real sport to watch again.

I never, ever hope for injuries! Bad karma. Look what has happened to the Giants the last two years on defense. First it was the linebacker and then last year the line. *shiver*

I could see doing this but then again it's still a bit of a reach. That said, if you enjoy it more power to you. I just can't get into it. I've tried, I've really tried because I love the sport and 17 weeks + playoffs just never seems to be enough.

You almost had a good point going up until the baseball crack. The the August/September pennant chases and baseball playoffs are excellent. Much better than football's playoffs.

Heretic!

Besides, even you admit baseball between March and the end of August is a waste. We're talking the summer sports-drought. I used to get into the French Open and Wimbledon and even that doesn't interest me much any more.

Fool! I love summer baseball. It's just not as good as late-summer/fall. Once the All-Star break hits and teams start to either pull away, re-surge or drop out of it, I tend to get more into it. Although this year I've been on board all season.

See above. The real sports drought is after the Super Bowl (actually, it starts after championship weekend and the SB is an overblown send-off). Yeah, March Madness is a good break but that is really only 3 weeks.

Yeah, I'm not with you on the baseball knock Rod. :]

Heck, I stayed up until 1:30 AM last night watching the Sox (they are on a west coast trip right now) and I had to work this morning.

What about NASCAR? :uhoh:

Hey, and, get out of my thread you non-football-talking peoples! :D
