For those who run in the Scarred Lands what is your favorite area to adventure

I am thinking that I particularly like what Darakeene, Albadia, and Mullis Town have to offer.

Other areas are intriguing, but those three areas take the cake for me. However, that may be because I still haven't read the Termana gazzateer yet ;)

scarred lands

after only 2 sessions 2 of my players characters are complaining about the bland food in Darakeene and casting their eyes longingly to the "greener pastures" and spicy food of Zathiske.

I am currently running my Scarred Lands game out of the Phylacteric Vault in the fair lands of Darakeene. My PC's include an aspiring planar geographer, a paladin of the Silver Order, a cleric of Madriel, a Darakeene-bred warrior, and a half-orc rogue/psychic warrior (thanks to the Slacerian virus). The characters act as an adventuring company working on behalf of the Vault (each with their own reason for doing so).

Right now the players are doing some preliminary investigations into a few abandoned Slacerian ruins for the Vault, but there's a lot cooking on the side. The cleric of Madriel has been suffering from disturbing dreams that the oneiromancers are studying, the paladin is using the mage to find out what the Curators are up to, the fighter is secretly being bred as the successor to Vode Nulan's blades, and the half-orc is coming to terms with his new-found powers (while suffering through an endless stream of questioning by the Phylacteric Scholars). Plus, the western seaboard is being wracked with storms that have sailors whispering about the return of Lethene and somewhere in the astral plane, Mesos is stirring back to life. Ooooooo.

Of course, this is all a ways down the road and I've got a lot of middle-ground planned. Oh, and no, my players don't even know that this message board exists.

I love the setting of the Phylacteric Vault if only because you can work so much within it. Think Tar Valon, the White Tower, and Aes Sedai. All sorts of intrigue to cultivate. Plus, without any definitive word from SSS, the Vault is my own personal playground with which to tinker with the bizarre and mysterious. Not to mention the political intrigue that is Darakeene itself. If you're familiar with Robert Jordan, think of the Great Game. Darakeene's also got a good geographical location; Albadia's right to the north, you've got a nice cluster of islands off-shore, and if you really want, you can hoof it down to Hollowfaust and the Hornsaw.

All in all, I think I've struck upon a golden setting for my SL game.

scarred lands

no one in my party is native to the scarred lands and they don't know that much about this location and like you do not know about this thread. I have told them that if they want to find out exactly where they are in relation to "home" then the "vault would be a good place to start. they may head up that way . . .
It sounds like you have come up with a lot of info for that location not found in the books. if you have it as a .pdf or word file I would love to view it and perhaps incoporate some of it into my game.

Well your players MIGHT enjoy the Lands of No Gods. There the people are even more backwards than the Albadians, serving neither god nor titan. But it's got gnomes and gnolls! ;) But you can check out what you want in the Termana Gaz Tuerny/Jesse to make those determinations on your own. Just remember! If they get too uppity, send them to the Jack! ;)

I wish I could be of more help Sanackranib, but if something comes along about Darakeene, you'll be the first to know.

Btw Gaius, nice details about the Vault. :) Definately sounds interesting AND fits in well with my own concept of how the Vault works.

Sounds like a cool game. I second Sanackranib, even if you don't get a story hour up and running, it would be cool to see what you have.
We need some sort of SL repository somewhere....

And Sanackranib, where are your characters from? What are they up to? How are you handling planar travel? enquiring minds want to know.

scarred lands

My players characters:
well, 2 are from the dales FR setting, the other is from the Mystara setting in a high renasanse period. The 1st two went to a tomb to try to find a scroll to remove a curse and set off one of these special DM wants to translocate you "here" traps. the 3rd was exploring some ruins and accidently set off a portal. all realized that they were a long way from home when they looked up in the sky and saw that there were 2 moons. Of course I told the players where I was going to be running, and as they were largly unfamiliar with the scarred lands and I didn't want them to know a lot about the history.
I started them elseware told them not to use all of their starting language slos so that they wouldn't have to spend points to acquire the regional "commen" language. This has worked well because they have brought their homeworld bias' with them. and the history is slowly comming out a little bit each session. That's one reason why I'm interested in the work that others have done in this fantastic setting. Like all the work that has been done on the "vault" per the thread above.
