For those who run in the Scarred Lands what is your favorite area to adventure

Well there's always Shelzar to try out Matt if you don't want to go TOO far. :) But glad you're enjoying Eastern Ghelspad. There's a good bit to see there.

Btw Gaius, GOOD stuff there. Definately something to think in more detail about.

Gentlemen - this is exactly the type of stuff I was hoping for when I staertd this thraed. Gaius - great Info there. I think I'll add a room like the astrolobe from the Icewind Dale I can send the PC's out to follow up leads to recover the missing pieces. Ties in well with the Idea of a work in progress.

Nightfall- lets get this SL repository going. If we all submit what we are doing then somone can compile it in a form/book/.pdf whatever that we can all use. As a big fan of the OGL, I for one have no issues with my stuff being published on the web or even used by the creators of the SL, so long as I have access ot any printed material.

Here are the stats for Carnack the Magnificent -"purveyor of fine Elixers and Scrolls" and his traveling wagon:

he travels around and sells potions and scrolls for the standard prices found in the DMG. Carnack does not sell anything that can be used only offensively except burning hands because "Everyone should have the power to deal with Trolls"
Potions: I have given him a base chance per level of the spell (0-3rd) of having a given potion in stock: 0=60% (qty 1d6), 1=45% (qty 1d4) 2=30% (qty 1d3) 3=15% (qty 1d2) *note this does not include healing potions - he will have twice the above on hand for an additional 10% cost.
Scrolls: I have given him a base chance per level of the spell (0-4rd) of having a given scroll in stock: 0=75% (qty 1d8), 1=60% (qty 1d6) 2=45% (qty 1d4) 3=30% (qty 1d3) 4=15% (qty 1d2)

As Carnack both buys and sells the DM is free to include stuff not on Carnack's spell list - but keep in mind he does not deal in items that can only be used offensively.

Ed (Carnacks bodyguard) human F3/Bodyguard PrC4(quintissential Wizard book) blond, brown eyes 6'2" 220 lbs. age 30, Hit points: 94 AL:AC 20 LN STR 16, DEX 14, CON 16, INT 13, WIS 13, CHA 9 (Ed doesn't say much so some folks think he's "slow")
Saves FORT +8, REF +6, WILL +5 BAB +6/+1 weapons +2 Battleaxe, Masterwork lt. x-bow, masterwork longsword. Armor +1 Gorgon Leather armor (quintissential rogue book) +5 AC 5 max DEX. +1 sm. steal shield.

feats improved init, power attack, cleave great cleave,absorb blast, bodyguard, iron will, lightning reflexes

Carnack usually drives the wagon while Ed rides shotgun. Also in the wagon is a flesh golem.

Carnack and his cousin Milo (a priest of Madriel in the SL) have gone into the potions and scrolls business. from their house they make potions, scrolls and some alchemical items all winter and come spring Carnack travels around and sells them at various mage fairs and towns. Carnack is a pleasent sort of man and is always happy to deal with townsfolk and adventurers buying scrolls/potions or rare/exotic spell components. The 2 partners have been doing this for the last 15 years and while not rich they are comfortable, and content to provide their services to the people of Darakeene and making a modest income in the process.

Unfortunately I don't have access to PDF conversion stuff...but I WILL hold on to this for you. (Keeps extensive SL files.)

One thing I will say, you might want to consider just making Ed just a regular fighter, since I don't know if bodyguard IS OGC or not...

sorry I ment to add the following as the last line of my post:
"several of the feats that Carnac and Ed have are not from the core rules - as well as the bodyguard PrC. The DM should feel free to substitute these for somthing else if these books are not used in his campaign". in the case of Carnack substitute leadership for rapid scribing, and In Ed's case change his Levels to Fighter levels - note he will loose 14 hp in this conversion., change absorb blast, and bodyguard to dodge and mobility.
 

funny I gave him expertise and improved disarm. Thought that would fit.

Also I gave Carnack Specialist dispelling (easy way to counterspell a power hungry mageling.), plus extend spell. (I tossed out Magic Artisan since none of those feats are OGL)

Otherwise I kept most everything except changing the armor on Ed to be clothborn splint mail. (Easy to use and not extremely magical)

those changes fit as well. although without magicial artisen or somthing like it Carnacks profits will be a lit less. for ED's armor it would be closer as a mithrael brestplate. otherwise the feats sound good.

Carnack's wagon is an enclosed wooden wagon similar to thr Gypsy wagon or the wagons used by snake oil sailsmen in all the movies of the american old west. it is pulled by 2 draft horses.

Does the free download of adobe accrobat - reader allow you to make .pdf's or do you need the full version to do that?
 

Right but again if we want to keep this OGL, you can't use that. I know it makes him a little less special but he's still got some good abilities that aren't combat related.

Mithril though is hard to come by. (They put a lot it in the Mithril Golem. :) ) Besides with clothborn, he gets GOOD max dex bonus along with decent/good regular armor bonus.

I believe that's the full version that has it. The free download only reads PDFs.

I am not familiar with clothborn, the idea was to give him an armor value of 6 while still keeping it "light". I like the idea of Carnack having specialist counterspelling esp. vs. Evocation.

As mithrael is covered under OGL I still think that it's the best choice. besides it makes the encounter all the more special. while I believe that it would require a whole lot of Mithrael to make a mithrael golem I can hardly believe that it took all the mithrael in the SL. And I am interested in keeping the flavor as close to the origional as possible (gorgon leather is rare too!)

It would be cool to bring a lot of DM's encounters and NPC's togater for the variety, so much the better if our efforts can actually be used in someone elses game.
 

Clothborn armor is as light as padded leather BUT still provides the armor class bonus of the armor it enchants. So a half plate would provide a +7 armor class bonus but it would also give the character a max Dex bonus, weight and armor penalty check of padded armor. Meaning it grants a +6 armor bonus, but also it only weighs 10 pounds, has a Max Dex of +8, and it has no armor check penalty.

Yeah I thought the counterspelling specialist might be nice, even though he can't counterspell a transmuter spell to counter a transmutation spell.

Mithril is covered by the OGL, yes but I thought since he had magic armor, it wouldn't be a bad idea to give him something of near eviqulancy.

who else out there has stuff out there that they would like to add be it Ideas, NPC's encounters etc.? I would really like to get this SL repository thing going. Of special intrest is Darakeene since that is where my current game is set.
