You can try and persuade him all you want, but it won't happen. People have been asking for changes like that ever since UA were released. For now just utilize the custom section and wait and see what Xanathar's Guide to Everything brings to the table. If the revised ranger is in it, then Forged will add it to the CS.

Well, what you just mentioned is exactly the point of why this situation IS different: I can't use the custom section to implement this, because it's a core class change, not a subclass.
If anything, this is only like people asking for new classes like UA Artificer or Mystic. But again, 1) this would be much, much less work and 2) this is absolutely more accepted material than those new classes, at least in my experience and reading. Plus, Xanathar's is not coming out for over 5 months.

Revised Ranger, no matter how loved/wanted/polished/whatever people feel it may be, is still Unearthed Arcana materal, not official material, and it will not be added to this tool until such time as it becomes official material. Please stop wasteing time asking a question when the answer is already known. Since you clearly want to play the revised ranger you have three viable options. First, use the tried and true method of pencil and paper - it always works! Second, you can try to find another tool on the net that implements UA materials like the RR and use that instead. Third, wait with the rest of us until the official version is released and added to this tool.
ForgedAnvil does this as a hobby, not a job, and has set certain limits to help keep it from becoming a second job. Please respect those limits.

Is there an option for variant human in the sheet? I wasn't able to find one. If not, could it be added?

I'm sure this has been asked (but I don't have time to read through 294 pages of posts to find out) but when I try to save my character I get an error message and it can't be resolved. Is there a workaround for this? I'm running Windows 10 and using excel. Thanks for any help.

Telling us that it won't save and when you try you get an error message doesn't really tell us anything. We need additional information. What version are you using? Are you utilizing "Save As" and renaming the file? what type of file are you saving it as?
Screen shots of the issues can help as well.
With an Excel file downloaded from the web (net), it is automatically marked as from an untrusted source. I recommend scanning it with a trusted antivirus tool to verify it is not infected first. Then, assuming it passes that check, mark it as safe. To do this you will need to open the file properties tab. At the bottom of the General tab there will probably be a warning that the file came from another computer and it might be blocked to protected your computer. To the right of that message is a checkbox to unblock it. Check that box and apply the change. Now you should be able to save changes you make to this file. Hope this helps.
Edit: There is no need to comb through 294+ pages for the answer(s) you seek. The F.A.Q. was created with this in mind. A link to it can be found in the same place as the other downloads for this generator are located. If you don't find the answer seek in the F.A.Q., then by all means, come here and ask away!.

I've had an error similar to what you describe in the past. I have found it to occur after I copy images into an excel file.
