I'm amused that Baldur's Gate got the nod for urban adventures over Waterdeep, but I have to guess that it's due to the popularity of BG3, and that's fine with me.

I'd have preferred Waterdeep, but I don't blame them for doing BG instead given the success of BG3.

Warerdeep has a whole book dedicated to it, and it is still in print.

On the contrary, all of those were grounded in RPG play.

FRs development predates D&D, it was designed for Ed Greenwood to tell stories, the D&D stuff was added later.

And let's be honest whereever the intent, these setting tradition sold and made far more novel and video game content then TTRPG content, far more people read fantasy novels then play D&D.

I'm just saying these folks should not be forgotten, they should be marketed to as well as well as fans of DADHAT.
