This book KICKS so much ass. I love the protrayals of Mahadra Demos and Yaerol. PLUS favorite creatures abound! Slitheren, (namely fire spitters), Slacerian Dragon and even more fun stuff like THUNDER orbs! Anyway, best of all, we get a little insight into WHY the Prince of Shadows is helping Vladewen in his quest. It's a bit of shocker but one I LOVE! Oh yeah they also find That Which Abides' true name. Boy you love little stuff like this huh?

alright, i'm really curious about scarred lands after reading all of your posts (but can't just run out and buy it - limited budget). this leads me to a question:

is the novel good because it's well written, or

is the novel good because it's scarred lands?

It's a good novel because I like Byer's style. Course it being in the Scarred Lands help, but if you ask me "Is great literature?" No, I can say that. "Is it a good read?" Definately that.

Get forsaken first. Forsworn is the second book and thus you might be a TAD confused reading it.

Hey Nightfall, glad to hear you like it. I'm still waiting for my copy to come in and as you know I work in a bookstore and still don't have mine. Then again with last week with Isidore(sp?) visiting and of course Lili this week, well actually it's here as I type this, I understand why. In fact my store is closed today, not that it does me any good because I was scheduled to be off anyway. My point is that I'm still waiting for my copy.

Yep, the entire series is written by him, even though he didn't write the short story that inspired him.
