FR Zombie Rotters Lvl 1 minions

This may be old news, but seeing that my FRCG just arrived today, it's new to me!

The Zombie Rotter stat block on p.24 of the FRCG lists them as Lvl 1 minions, 25 XP each. Otherwise, the block is identical to the one in the MM expect the latter lists them as Lvl 3 minions worth 38 XP each.

A wise fix!

I don't have the FRCG but you might want to take a careful look at the pluses to hit and the defenses to see if they are really the same. Those are the only things that would have changed on a two level drop.

Rotter are badly underpowered as L3 minions (really bad defense) - compare them to the skeleton zombies, for example.

So maybe they decided to correct the problem there and just haven't bothered to fix the MM entry.

Wonderful. :hmm:

So now we have to buy the FR supplements for errata?

Only if you have some compulsive need to follow the lastest version of every single trivial rule in existance rather just following the rules as you see them and making rulings to cover anything not covered.

I really don't see the problem, even if this was actually the case.

If you are happy with level 3 zombie rotters, call your zombie rotters level 3. If you think they are woefully underpowered for that level (the conclusion I had already reached) then change their level to what feels appropriate regardless of what it says in the book.

And if you see two conflicting rules in two different books, pick the one that you think makes sense and go on with your game.

The world (neither real nor fantasy) won't come to an end because you aren't playing with the lastest, hot-off-the-presses bit of rules errata.

It is old news, but not very wide spread old news. The D&D Compendium and the Monster Generator on D&DI have listed Rotters as level one for months (and D&DI supposedly has future errata in it already which means it is most likely an official change).

What is widely known is that the zombie rotter is weaker than some other level one minions and should always have been a level one monster.

Exactly. For more examples of minions with wrong levels look here.
