Where did you get the monster stats from? If it's from the playtest version of the game, you should know that the numbers have changed since then and your monsters may be overpowered or underpowered based on the current rules.

Also, Wizards of the Coast has not released any sort of open license content. You're probably going to get a takedown notice for this.

I winged the stats based on the starter set which I purchased. I realize there is no current license and address that in the text. To be honest, the terminology that 5e uses is so generic (hit, attack, etc) that I feel its arguably covered under the GSL. That said, its free and I encourage people to buy 5e products in the text. If someone wants to take it down thats absolutely fine; this is to promote 5e bc I think its great, nothing more. Buy lots and lots of 5e products from Wizards. You cannot play this without dling the Basic game from Wizards.

Unfortunately, the transfer to PDF went a lil wonky; somehow the quotation marks all disappeared. I will reup it later.

The GSL only applies if WotC specifically applies it. It doesn't magically apply to everything the same way OGL didn't apply to 4e. The current edition of D&D has no open license whatsoever. Wizards of the Coast owns the copyright to all text and trademarks to all logos.

You're using their trademark logo without permission. You're copying their trade dress. If you're copying stat blocks straight out of the Starter Set, that's copyright violation. Even if you're giving it away for free and not making any money, it's still a violation.

If WotC sends you a take-down notice, they're not doing it to be mean to stomp out the little guy. The way trademark and copyright laws work in the US, they have to actively defend their trademarks or else they lose them. That's why most companies have a fan site policy that specifically allows fan-created material and a reason a lot of companies (including TSR and White Wolf) came off as looking like the bad guys in the 90s when they forced takedown of a lot of fan sites and homebrew material.

Thanks for the concern! If Admin or WotC wants me to take it down I will do so happily with no grudge. I put up the GSL bc this was originally and most recently published under the GSL. I realize there is no license yet and info wont come til the new year. That said, this is in the spirit of the multiple free fan adventures that came out during and after the playtest both here and on the Wizards forums. You need 5e to play, and I encourage everyone to dl it and buy it. I just want to help promote it and for people to have fun with it. I have no issues removing it if it comes to that. So thanks again.

I updated the original PDF bc the formatting was wonky and I cleaned up the maps. I hope some of you have fun w it!
