Hello, all.
I have a colleague who would like to play D&D in French. Does anyone know if there is an official or unnofficial French translation of the Basic Rules yet?
Cheers,
Afet.

There aren't any translations (any languages) yet.
Ho do you know that for so sure?
Do you know if WotC would allow any translations to be "published"? Would it fall under the OGL?
Do you know which which languages are planned to be published?

Yeah, this new policy from WotC is really bad, not only they ignore the fans that are not fluent
in english, they also incentivate piracy with that. Because, at least here in Brazil, most people will
rather download an unoficial translation than buying it in english.

Because if such a thing existed, somebody would have seen it.

5E has not been released under the OGL. A translation partner would need to contact WotC directly.

Do you know which which languages are planned to be published?

They haven't announced anything yet. But they only just finished releasing the core rulebooks. They'll get to it in time.

That particular third party announcement is not accurate. Chris Perkins and Mike Mearls have both said that they intend to have translations, but that they have no timescale to announce.

Here's the exact quote: "We want to adopt a plan that makes it possible for us to deliver new releases in multiple languages at the same time. That requires a lot of work on our end, and also likely ties into digital publishing."
