Frenzied Bersker and Charge

Delgar

First Post
I just have a couple of quick questions about the Frenzied Beserker
prestige class and 1 about charging.

1. If the FB drops the last foe, does he use his cleave to attack allies?
2. If the FB was in rage, and frenzy and the last foe drops can he
drop his rage (to shorten the frenzy). I would say no because it
states that the FB attack to the best of his ability. If there were
still foes up the FB wouldn't drop his rage.
3. IF the FB encounters something with fly and has no ranged/throwing
weapons. Would he leap off the side of a tower and plummet to his
death trying to attack the foe? I would say no, because that's not
really attacking to the best of his ability.
4. Can a FB use thrown/missle weapons?
5. Can the FB use power attack to lower her to hit, till the point
that she won't be able to hit friends? I would think no, because she's
no longer attacking to the best of her ability.

Charging:

1. OK, a FB has Rhino hide armor and is in a Frenzy. She charges a foe
and attacks, hitting and doing double damage. She now takes here
Partial action to attack again, does this action still count as a
charge for the case of the +2 and double damage?
2. IF the FB was fully hasted and could partial charge and then full
attack, would all attacks get double damage?
3. Should my party cringe in terror when the last foe drops?

Preventing Frenzy from Killing players:

1. Last night I had a character use ventriloquism to try and convince
the FB that there was another foe. IF the FB failed her will save
would she be convinced and attack something inanimate? Or would it
have to be a more convincing illusion? The bard wanted to try
something new, and I wasn't quite sure how to handle it.

The party usually has several back-up frenzy stoppers on hand. (Hold
Person, Web, Summoned critters and mainly the fact that they just run
when it's down to a single foe or two.)

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Yes.

Can't drop his rage.

Nope, wouldn't leap and fall. Unless he thought the foe was close enough that he could leap and grapple the flying enemy. Even then, he might decide to throw an improvised weapon (a rock, a chair, a sword).

4. Can a FB use thrown/missle weapons?

In some circumstances (like against a flying opponent) it makes sense, but generally the FB would want to be in melee.

5. Can the FB use power attack to lower her to hit, till the point
that she won't be able to hit friends? I would think no, because she's

I tend to agree. Just play the Frenzied Berserker. If the PC was an NPC enemy, if you would power attack the enemy, then power
attack the PC.

Ask your GM. The extra attack is just like haste. Does your GM let you get the charge bonus on a hasted attack?

2. IF the FB was fully hasted and could partial charge and then full
attack, would all attacks get double damage?

Again, ask your GM.

3. Should my party cringe in terror when the last foe drops?

Absolutely.

Ask your GM. It might work. It might require a better illusion.

1. If that was the last enemy the FB gets a will save DC 20 to try and end his frenzy, if they fail then they would use their cleave to attack an ally.
2. Correct, he wouldn't end his rage just. Besides, raging while in a frenzy gives ya that all important +2 or 4 to will saves to end the frenzy =o)
3. I would also say no, but he would prolly start picking up rocks and throwing them or grab a bow or something from an ally.
4. Don't see why not, but they would always wanna be in melee when they can be.
5. Attacking to the best of your ability is fighting smart, you might be in a frenzy but you can still think a bit. Using power attack to lower your hit so much that you will miss your friends isn't fighting to the best of your ability. Using just enough to where you know you can hit them somewhat easily, now that's fighting to the best of your ability.

Charge
1. No it doesn't, the charge part is over, but keep in mind you keep the negative to AC while giving up the bonuses on the extra attack from frenzy.
2. Nope
3. Yes, very afraid. My 6th level barbarian 5th level frenzied berserker can put an average of around 40hp of damage an attack on an opponent if he went all out and power attacked, with keeping a +15 to attack.
