Fritz Lang's Metropolis!

Corinth

First Post
I went with one of my people to the Uptown Theater in Minneapolis tonight to see the restored and remastered (digitally) version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis. At this past CONvergence I'd see the Tezuka version, so I compared and contrasted the two as I watched Lang's masterpiece unfold.

Tezuka is a god, and his version is truly worth seeing, but it is clear that he owes everything to Lang's version (and vision). The original version is still relevant to life as it is today, over 75 years after its original release, and I nearly wept at its beauty. When the DVD becomes available, I'll getting a copy.

BTW, I'll be back next weekend to see Spirited Away, the latest offering by Japanese national treasure, living legend and reigning God of Animation Hayao Miyazaki. I might even take my sister with me.

Hmm...I wonder what cut the DVD will be. there are so many different cuts of Metropolis that have floated around the world since its release.
