D&D 5E Gaining shield proficiency

Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like the only way you can be proficient in a shield is to multi-class. There are feats for light, medium, and heavy armor proficiency, but I can't find one for shield. Am I missing something?

Moderately Armored.

Medium armor always comes with shield unless it's from Mountain Dwarf.

Man, I knew it had to be there. I kept looking at medium armor mastery instead. Doh.

There is also that UA feat as well. It's better because you dont need light armor or any prerequisites, and it has some extra benefits as well.

I think I'm gonna talk to my DM. I already have medium armor (dwarf) and I'm going to take heavy armor. I'm gonna ask if I can get shields with that too rather than take a feat on something I'm already mostly proficient with anyway.

FWIW, we house-rule Shield Master also grants proficiency with shields since Moderately Armored is often redundant otherwise.
