Sadly, you could apply this same comment to music, films, sports, debates on science versus creationism, and pretty much all of human activity...Why spend your time talking about something you despise? Moreover, why spend your time being rude to people who have no notable input into the process to make you hate it less?
It could also be my formerly frequenting the WotC forums, which would produce a very different (and arguably biased) sampling. 5e detractors are a bit more mixed here.If we set aside confirmation bias (the tendency to see things that support our personal preferences, and gloss over things that do not), and I think you'll find it is pretty even.
As long as we can all agree that you don't eat D&D Next with a knife and fork!
