Game up at Decipher?

as soon as the announced that they were no longer publishing Dot Hack & puting WARs on hold I knew Decipher was in big trouble. Of course that is what happens when you try to expand your product lines with crap product. They over exteneded themselves and did it by producing bad games. Wizkids is heading the same way, they just ended the Mageknight line and are very close to doing the same to the Mechwarrior line.

My comment about the Mageknight line coming to and end (which the above link seems to confirm) is based on what the owner of one of my LGS was told by ACD. The way it was described to him was that Wizkids will be liscensing the Mageknight brand for various other products but that the minis line is done. I ussually take what the owner says because he has a lot of contacts in the gaming industry and has worked for a few different gaming companies. All the info he has ever given be has always ended up being accurate so I don't have any reason to doubt what he said.

Decipher has walked the fine line of financial trouble for the past few years. If these latest rumors are, in fact, true then it will probably be the nail in the coffin. So much for seeing any new Star Trek or Lord of the Rings RPG books... *sigh*

Something just occurred to me. If Decipher does close down, what effect will that have on Mongoose and their WARS RPG license?

I was thinking about that as well. I wonder if Mongoose would buy the rights to the Wars world?
