Gamers needed for large web project!

First Post
Ok, here's the scenario...

1- I have a website (rolegamer.net)
2- I have lots of server space (200 megs, with up to 1g if needed)
3- I can cover graphics/appearance of the site

However,

I need content. Currently the site is hosting a few dungeon maps I have made. I have owned the site for a few years now and have finally grown bored of covering ym own material.

What I would like to do is use the site to cover an aspect of d&d that the online community has yet to address...

Part I

...the problem? What exactly has the online community not yet already addressed?

For example - you can go anywhere and find new prestige classes - even feats. Those areas have been fully covered. But what has yet to be fully covered - what is it you feel needs more attention.

Part II

I'm looking for ideas on something to cover - however, once I decide (with your help) on what to cover, I am going to need some major help with it. I'll need help from those of you looking to get involved in a major project.

Basically I'm turning my website over to the community. Help me do something with it that has yet to be done - or maybe something that has been covered but not in a reasonable fashion.

I plan on using this thread not only to gather ideas about what to do, but also to gather all the support I can to help get it going. My hope is to create a powerful website that can add to the scope of EN World - maybe even get its name on the hosted list <winks at Morrus>.

So - there it is, my plan in a nutshell. Please respond with comments, suggestions, flames, curses, whatever you feel like saying - let me know...

Thanks,

Cultures, Tactics, Mannerisms, and Roleplaying tips for 'Monster' races.

Ways to refresh the hold 'Cannon fodder' attitude toward Kobods, Orcs, Goblins, Giants, Minotaurs, etc.

So what your saying is that one possibility is to cover monsters in much the same way as playable races are currently covered?

That's an interesting idea...

...any more ideas?

That does sound like a cool idea....but it would remove a lot of the flexibility of those races.

I mean, the MM gives the basic template, and lets you do as you would with it. By saying "This is how Orcs are," you remove a lot of the ability for the DM to determine how they want orcs to be.

What I'd like to see? Hm....a place to stick all D&D-related ideas that don't directly affect the game. Your ideas for D&D shows, movies, D&D-influenced memorabilia, a home for all the cool ideas that will never see the light of day due to leagalese (like a Harry Potter d20, or a Magic, The Gathering d20, or whatever)..

Sorry if that's not much help. :)

Perhaps you could run with the "cultures" idea by having it set up as thus:

Cultures
=Orcs
*Culture A
*Culture B
*Culture C
=Goblins
*Culture A
*Culture B
*Culture C

etc.

Just list a whole bunch of ideas for the cultures.

How about a cafeteria-style world building resource? People can submit things like world maps for others to use. You choose one and then go over to world races. You choose one of several packages people have uploaded, or system to generate your own. Then you choose out some religion and gods that people have uploaded, or a system that lets you create these yourself. Etc., etc.

It would be a great resource for those of use who like to home-brew, but could use a little helpful nudge here and there.

Not so much, but to really Flesh them out. Offer suggestions (like Fayredeth). It wouldn't be 'This is how you have to do it', but offer suggestions, and Examples. If you're familiar with Mongoose Publishing's Slayers Guides, kinda like that.

But also, Tactics. That way that you don't just have them wasted within the second round. Many humanoids have 10 intelligence (Sans orcs), so they're As Smart as humans.

Not so much as the current playable races but... Sort've like the Ecology in the old MM, in 2e. But, mainly, offer Suggestions, as well as tips on how you could RP them, as a PC.

NPC cards - can never have enough interesting and unusual NPCs for all occasions, especially if they're complete with stats. Build up a quality archive of them, listed and indexed by type, with you as the editor, and it could be as much in demand as the Creature Catalog. Make them printable into card shaped sizes like Dr Skulls' NPC cards, and they'd be even more useful.

Quality control and getting enough submissions would be the catch, though. Maybe you could run a competition.

I like the NPC idea. Another good resource, something I'm always looking for, is maps. Not of countries and continents so much as cities, towns, villages, hamlets. Also maps of building and business interiors. Whenever my players travel, I'm always needing village maps and maps of inns and/or taverns.

If the building and business maps could be connected with some NPC descriptions, and made so it could all be printed out, that would be great.
