Gaming over the Holidays?

First Post
So... the holidays are when a large percentage of the earth's populace stops what we're doing for a short time, and we gather together with family to celebrate whatever it is that our beliefs give us cause to celebrate... Christmas, for us... Hannakuh for others, or Ramadan, or Kwanzaa...

How many of you out there are going with the less-traditional "let's scrap that family thing... I got two days off... GAME ON!" ?

Right here,

Acutally most of our group is off for the better part of two weeks so we've decided to add an allday game-session on the friday to our schedule. From 10 AM to whenever we get kicked out.

Nothing but good gaming, good friends and good pizza, cause everything is good with pizza.

Well, we're not doing the family thing this year (mine are all dead, and hubby's are far away) but having friends over for dinner instead--one of my players and her non-gaming spouse. I can't imagine us playing, since he's not interested, but I don't think we'll be able to refrain from talking about it.

Two years ago we had massive gaming on Christmas. I was running a game with about a dozen players in it and about four or six (don't remember) were bumming around town with nothing to do and no family commitments. Whoohoo! We played through a chunk of Gates of Firestorm Peak, iirc... that's a great module.

Last X-mas marked my first attempt at DMing 3e and it was my first (extremely flawed) conversion of the D-word. 1 year later and it looks I'll have a total of;

Play homebrew x2 month
DM homebrew x4 month
Hero Clix x4 month
play e-mail Kalamar x4 month
DM e-mail Darksun x4 month
DM En World Darksun x4 month

....and I'm just getting started!

It's good to play with the gamers that were away for college again

The fact that, on Christmas Eve, this thread has gotten 6 responses in an hour also speaks volumes...

Our game-group is spread out over the country this holiday season. Even our online game is on holiday hiatus.

However!! We've promised our sons that we will NOT drag them all over Central Florida visiting relatives immediately after opening all their cool new presents (a COMPLETE large-size action figure set of all 9 members of the Fellowship of the Ring is included in the prize stash for our oldest... so the RPG sentiment is still there!), so it will be a pajama day for us tomorrow.

I'm sure we'll spend a good portion of it working on the writing and/or drawing of Sprawling Shadows material. So, in essence, we'll be gaming on Christmas. (After enduring the "some assembly required" phase of Christmas morning). Yay!

Several of my gaming group members will be abandoning me this holiday, so gaming is probably going to be on the backburner for a while. (One gets to perform in the Citrus Bowl however... so good for her! :) )

If I were a wise man, I would prep a little bit for upcoming adventures... plan out nastiness... all that good stuff.

Alas... I also have 4 five-page calculus review packets due at the end of the break... *gags*

We try to game through the holidays, but things have been CRAZY busy here lately. But our production schedule is finally slowed down a BIT and I'm going to sit down and run part two of the Storm Lord's Keep on the 26th (maybe even tomorrow night)
