Gaming W/Jemal: Planar Quest IC (Prologue)

"I had a talk with Zann yesterday," announces Ur matter-of-factly during breakfast. "She says the Power *can* be learned without destroying all that the Gods have built." And then he bites into a piece of too crackly bread - for his taste - topped with something that tastes vaguely of mutton spread. (That last one isn't all that bad, actually.)

OOC: This is the first you've heard of him getting answers back from Gods, by the way. :)
OOC: If the others are going to be acquiring stuff before/during the trip to the ilithid's, Ur would want to go and get that talked-about goggle upgrade (adding the Blindfold of True Darkness ability to it) while they do that, please. It's already paid for and on his character sheet, just need to do the IC legwork.

(OOC - Sorry for my unscheduled absence...I am a little confused. Are we at the silver saucer of the illithid, or having breakfast with Ur? I will assume at breakfast for now. :))

Mei-Ying glances up from her food...something that looked like porridge or oatmeal, with some kind of brown powder on top and a little pile of berries capping it off.

"Did she say how that could be accomplished? Or what the reaction of the other gods would be if the Power were to be learned again?"

"Asked," admits the long-bearded dwarf, wordlessly asking for the bowl containing the rough equivalent of mustard (though it isn't the right shade of brown at all!). "But they're all sworn not to help directly." Including advice. "Some of them apparently like it that way. Others not so much." Obviously, says the twirl of his spread-covered, gold-chased glass knife. Then he lays down said cutlery on the table for a moment, dead serious as his dark eyes gaze into hers: "She didn't give the impression it was going to be easy, Ying. Or safe... But there *is* a way."

OOC: Braham and Tutek seem to want to do stuff before we go to the saucer (or not go at all), so I figured we were still at the palace until the other stuff was taken care of/settled (plus this isn't exactly a walking-in-the-streets topic :)).

OOC:
Didn't think Ur would start talking about the Goddess encounter right away. :P
Alright, We'll rewind a bit to Breakfast until the conversation is over (As stated, it's NOT something you want to be doing out in the open.), and you've decided who's heading out.
Once you guys are ready to move on, put my previous post about the bazaar into effect for whoever decides to venture forth.

As far as the Bazaar trip, I would advise at LEAST one PC be present. If some of you want to check out the Bazaar, we can do that while one or a few of you speak to the Illithid. I'll also deal with the protections and shopping at that point.

Gleefully ignoring the talk of gods, though cringing when Power is spoken Darrian waves a breakfast pastry around sending flakes flying. "As I was saying about our business this morning. Something of this level is something I might personally take part in. Strange enough that special intrest needs to be paid. Enough danger, in the info required, that I wouldn't want to risk a employee." He pauses a moment chews on the pastry as he thinks about something. "There is something I've been thinking about since yesterday. He looks over at Braham. "Your vision. My..." He looks over his shoulder as if looking for listeners, the servants pay him no mind. "Mirror, works on any place seen by the user. It's a long shot but you might be able to use it to reach our destination with out speaking to our prospective business partner." He shrugs and washes the pastry down with wine. "I don't think it will work but couldn't hurt to try. Unless it does work and we're not yet protected from the mad... er, local conditions. In my opinion the best method is to act like I have a foolish client and play it off as a chore, a dangerous one, but a chore none the less. Some one could come as my client, but should be prepared for subterfuge. Needs to pull off intelligent enough to think through the plan but act foolish enough to go through with it." Another pause and then he smiles. "Any volunteers?" He looks around at the party again. "But that is only my thoughts, we could go through as the whole group, some hired goons or guards would help with the 'See I know what I'm doing, I have people to protect me.'" He pecks at his pastries and waves for a refill on the wine.

A sly smile curs on Gerard's lips. "A foolish goon? I can try that." He tries to get the look on his face.

bluff or diplomacy +7

Braham is a bit taken aback by Ur's statement, but shrugs. "She has only said what we already knew."

"D'Raven, sure I'll try the mirror, but I doubt it'd work. Now if you want someone to play the fool ... I'm as eager as the next guy. But you heard what William said. The 'suckers have ways to get into your head - to read minds, I assume, among more direct methods. And besides that, who knows if it might remember something from my use of the scroll when I saw the illithid. This meeting sounds like a recipe for scrambled plans, with ours being the main course."
Braham eats his scrambled eggs.

Braham is a bit taken aback by Ur's statement, but shrugs. "She has only said what we already knew."
"Hu," mildly disagrees the short-legged stonecutter with a thank-you nod for the mustard: "Consider the messenger," he suggests with a slow, self-satisfied twist of his lips: he has a point and he knows it. And, "The Goddess gave me some paths. Directions for maybe finding wisdom on my own." Mustard goes on the spread, which is already sitting on bread of another sort (maybe this one will be more... consistent?). Mouth half-filled and chewing: "I've spent the night working on one of them."

A sly smile curs on Gerard's lips. "A foolish goon? I can try that." He tries to get the look on his face.
"Bodyguard," volunteers Ur without stopping his eating, though his dark eyes are of course as quietly attentive as ever.

Braham eats his scrambled eggs.

"Well that puts a wrinkle in that fun."
"He'll want to meet somebody above servants eventually," points out Ur after due consideration of the (very real) risk. "Better now when he hasn't had time to prepare. Two, with magical protection," is his recommendation before angling his head to roughly face Darrian down the table, "Can we get that here? Within the day?"

Time is ticking for all of them now.

<Response Darrian?>

OOC: Ur doesn't mind playing bodyguard OR shopping while the interview goes on if somebody else wants the spot?
