Gargoyle and Ettin preview at WotC

One thing I like (just a little off-topic) is that the DDM side of the cards are actually pretty usable in a standard D&D game now. We've always used our miniatures cards, but I doubt they will be revamping the D&D side of those cards now. So I suppose I can actually build me a deck of encounters now if I'm careful with them.

Could be cool

As for the new minis, they look pretty cool, and yeah the ettin aint very impressive

Eh... not too fond of the Ettin. Then again, I never was too fond of the Ettin, regardless of what it looked like - although the double initiative is a good idea.

The Gargoyle, however, is pretty sweet, and despite my initial reservations I like the way the "resist all" works.

Didn't this week's preview seem a little rushed? Not only were the descriptive paragraphs short, they barely mentioned the RP function of the monster. I know things are picking up over there, which is a good thing, so this isn't a complaint :)

BTW, here's a really great picture of the entire Dungeons of Dread set (much higher quality than most of the D&DXP pictures. You can click on the pick to enlarge it too.

Many of the minis look pretty good, but from the picture, a few look pretty blah. Can anyone spot the Griffon in the back-left corner. Looks really small for a "large" creature.

Not sure if this has been scooped.

Ettin looks goofy.

Looks like they took Seigfried and Roy and combined them into one creature, the Ettin. Which, you have to admit, IS pretty darn scary when you think about it...
