Shadowdark Gary con

I expect it will be available for sale at GaryCon. It has been in years past. However, it has been known to sell out, so if you want it, I'd grab it earlier in the con. Also, I think if you purchase from their booth you should get a code for the PDF. (I got my copy at Origins.)

But as was suggested above, try the Quick Start rules before you buy. There's a lot of content for you to give it a sample.

Hope you have a good time with it and that all of your gaming is a blast.

Wait....what? Seriously? You want a forever link that requires no authentication? So, like, somebody puts their link on Reddit and suddenly the entire world can download their work for free?

So not only do you want a digital product instead of paper, but you want the company you bought it from to be responsible if you lose the file?

No. I want a forever link attached to my account and if they cannot offer it, then I want a drivethrurpg link.

No one is asking for an open link.

They do not offer an account right now that saves your purchases.

Arcane Library is all of three full-time people, with one of those a brand-new hire. Once the Western Reaches Kickstarter is out the door later this year, I expect that website upgrades are one of the things on the agenda, along with organized play.

In any case, @Warpiglet-7, welcome aboard. Your assumptions are correct: Shadowdark plays super-fast, definitely has a higher risk (especially for people who treat it like 5E) and both the quickstart books and the full rulebook are incredibly robust while still being super-succinct. It's a great system that deserves its big success.

While Kelsey's stuff is great, it's also worth noting that DriveThruRPG. itch.io (with a very different vibe) and Kickstarter are full of stuff for Shadowdark, whether it's supplemental material or probably thousands of adventures.

The product is great. The buying experience if not a is backer almost killed it for me so I think it is important to explain the issues.

I’d recommend buying the PDF from drivethrurpg if you’re worried about long term storage, which is a big factor for me.

I am liking the quick start rules. I think you sold me on going to the booth. However I may first look at pdf if it’s on drive through.

The game is the same, mostly but different enough. Love equipment slots.

Damn…I could even see borrowing some of the rules for other fantasy game

Yeah, I have a PDF of everything on my external drive, laptop, phone, and if I wanted to get crazy, in gmail.

After that, its in Gods hands.

If Jeff Bezos read that he probably thinks you mean him. "Yes, my son, S3 has distributed redundant storage. Whatever that means."

I think this is a reasonable ask, but I'm also not surprised the Arcane Library doesn't have it yet. Too small an outfit.
