Here in Lew I'm not fighting to keep up with a party
Here in LEW I would never take a crafting feat because they castrated it with the craft point system ;) That's one of the reasons I don't have any wizards (my absolute favourite class) on LEW...not that there's really any good way around the necessity of something like the craft point system though, what with the time thing and all...

I've always felt I never have enough feats, so the craft item feats never compelled me in any way, but that's me.

That's the wonderful thing about D20, is that different people can see the same rule in a different way.

the craft point thing ruined alchemy for me. Dedicate skill points and a feat and half the gold? no thanks, I'll just buy it. The whole bit about introducing a feat for alchemy and masterwork sucked, and worse yet, craft points represent a missed oppertunity from my perspective to make some changes in the imho straightjacketed crafting formula.

but luchily I had only been considering a character who did alchemy, and didn't throw any skill points away before the crafting system was introduced.

I would have to agree completely about alchemy. Frankly, anyone who did spend the points and the feat and the gold, only to discover quickly that they have to stop doing Alchemy now and can never use it again until they level would soon discover what a waste it was. I mean, waste a feat for unlimited alchemy, OK, that could be fair. But waste a feat for alchemy and then spend craft points until you aren't even allowed to use your feats or skill points any more? No thanks :uhoh:

I understand your point of view, but even with craft points you can use quite a bit of your xp on crafting, which will be extended even more if the job system gets approved.

It's like LogicsFate said, you don't have to keep up with a party, so without some limitation you could spend some extra time and xp to make an obscene amount of items and totally throw off the cr system. I do agree that craft alchemy shouldn't be a feat though. (also shouldn't require spellcasting ability, but that's another thing entirely.)

I think it's only one craft masterwork feat that does everything, but I don't think it should be a feat either. I think it limits crafting unnessessarily. I had a character who is thinking about it, but mostly for RP reasons to craft her own weapons.

You know, if this many people are upset with the current implimentation of the craft point system, someone can suggest a revision.

I don't understand the point of the Craft Masterwork Item -feat at all. People take normal craft feats sparsely enough, and I really can't figure out why anybody would bother taking a feat to craft just masterwork items or alchemical items.

Craft Points itself were rather unnecessary addition IMHO, but they will work okay once there will actually be a change to get more of them in addition to leveling. At the moment that's just planned in one proposal and only for magical craftsmen. Not that there are any characters with Craft Masterwork Item to my knowledge...

Actually the proposal includes craft points for crafters of mundane items as well, in fact I've been asking for the benefits to be the same for mages and non-mages, even though my only crafter is a wizard.

Oh, I missed that.
