Gestault Powergaming

First Post
I am going to be making a 5th level gestault character for the Red Hand of Doom. I am looking for a powergamed melee destroyer. I am thinking of going with a Barbarian Cleric. The other option would be a survive anything type of charcter using Paladin/?. My stats are 18, 16, 16, 15, 14, 13. Arrange anyway needed. For the Barb I am thinking of 18 str, 16 dex, 16 con, 13 int, 15 Wis, 14 cha. I will probably go no devotion to take the destruction domain and Planning domain. Use the divine metamagic with extend and Persistent. I know that there are more powerful ways to go any suggestions?

I've got a number of combinations I'd like to try, but for a powergamed melee destroyer, I think I'd want a warforged warblade/artificer. The artificer offers some good long term buffs, the ability to repair damage to yourself (and other warforged, if any) and the ability to do a variety of usefull things outside of combat.

If I was going this route with the stats you list, I'd put the 18 in intelligence, with the two 16s in strength and charisma. You would get 8 skills per level: Search, Disable Device, and Use Magic Device to keep the artificer happy, Tumble and other discipline related skills to keep your warblade side happy. With maxed out search and disable device and an 18 intelligence, you've got trapfinding covered for your party... and the searcher out front is also the tank!

The thing I like about this combo is that the artificer really doesn't compete with the warblade in terms of use of actions in combat. Many artificer buffs have durations such that you can put them up well in advance of combat, including goodies such as magic vestment as a first level infusion.

That's only effective if you can get a huge number of Turn Undead attempts (e.g. via nightsticks from Libris Mortis). Otherwise, DMM Quicken is less expensive and more practical -- and Quicken Spell (the prerequisite) is useful on its own, starting in a few more levels.

My suggestion would be Warforged Barbarian // Psychic Warrior. The Psychic Warrior gives self-buffs and bonus feats, while the Barbarian gives HD, BAB, and "nova" capability via Rage. Spend a feat to get Psi Repair Construct.

There's really nothing bad about a Warblade // Psion, though. :)

How about Druid // Monk? Str 15 Int 14 Wis 18, Dex 13, Con 16, Cha 16.

Classic comic-book superhero would be Sorceror // Monk, of course.

Restrictive alignment choice you got there. :)

Only if he's allowed to take the Ascetic Mage feat. Heroic AC should be based on Charisma!
