Dude, no one cares. No one is going to say D&D caused this guy to go crazy. The article indicts the murderer's mental disorder, not his hobby. D&D is for dorks, not for satanists. Just look at all the D&D video games; a lot of them are pretty mainstream.

so a two year old murder case is supposed to mean something to me rolling dice in my home?

Should be interesting to follow the trial on TV and see if what comes of the D&D connection.

Maybe Jack Chick or the person who started Mad About Dungeons and Dragons will be subject matter experts for the prosecution.

I don't see an attack on gaming, at least not in that article. If someone out there takes advantage of the situation and plays demagogue on the issue, then yes, I think they will need a firm response. At present, it does not appear that the gaming is central to either side in the case; they are far more focused on questions about the man's mental capacities. This looks more like a case to be watched than one that requires direct action today.

He used a samurai sword? Doesn't he know those things only deal, like, 1d10 damage? I mean, what if his co-worker was 3rd level, or something?

I would've used my fireball. I mean, I've been practicing it for years... it's about time I used it to take out some orcs.

Seems unlikely - Pat Pulling died back in the 1990s.

Man, WotC or GAMA really need to get it in gear and educate Joe Public about RPGs. Eesh.

Yes, but given the coworkers penchant for teasing him about the game, I think it's quite likely the fellow had a Spell Resistance. And since the attacker had previously defeated relatives with the same sword, I am guessing he probably had a level or 2 in Fighter. I'm guessing, he went on full power attack with double bonus for wielding the sword two handed.
