We bought our friend Gandalf's sword as a wedding present (whenever one of the guys gets married, they get a sword) and it came with the official LotR logo and certificate and everything. So I'm pretty sure you can buy the swords independently.

Suzi, the website says that "prizes are authentic stunt props used in the filming of "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King." Somehow that makes it cooler in my geeky little head than a replica would be.

Probably the easier way to test Sting would be to see if it doesn't glow when orcs aren't around. Sort of like how you check whether your elephant-repelling powder works.

Clay, that's actually pretty damn cool. Now I want a fridge covered in freebie magnets! Better get on the phone.

I totally botched my spot/nerd check..... :)
Yes, I was thinking "You want sting, just go buy sting...." No no.... you can have the sting, the one used in filming. I have to say three hail cthulus and do pittance now.

But if you read further, you'll find out that "Each prop will be permanently encased in an acrylic container." :(

I think you mean 'penance'. If you meant 'pittance', well, that's not very nice for j... oh hi, Eric's grandma! Lovely day, isn't it?

My son has "Sting." He thought it was teh bestest Christmas gift EVAR. Unfortunately for him, it no longer goes 'swish' and 'clang' when you swing it around, and I'm too lazy to put new batteries in. That thing is LOUD. My grandmother and I got some funny looks rolling through Target with a shopping cart going "clank, clank, clank."

(As an aside, you just gotta love a lady whose icon reads, "Hot, fresh wickedness." As Homer would say, "Mmmmmmmmmm...Lola.")
