Giants In The Land!

Let's not forget the Sorcerer Hill Giants! And the Bard-King Hill Giants.

That Cha score of 17 can really throw PCs for a loop!

(I know it's a typo...but I don't care ;)).

I like Giants! How many of you use Giants a lot?

I like giants too, but armies of CR 9 creatures (plus class levels!) are hard to fit into a less...SHARK-tastic game. Wasn't someone saying that the converted Against the Giants is a meat-grinder in 3E?

For its prescribed levels, I've heard that as well.

OTOH, there's nothing wrong with having most Giants be "by the book" and only the leaders with levels. Or using NPC class levels for some of the immediate underlings to make them special but not so threatening as to be insurmountable foes. Two cents... :)

One reason for that is a rules artifact. Big, strong monsters have plenty of Hit Dice -- in order to be tough enough -- and in D&D all things flow from Hit Dice: skills, feats, etc.

SHARK I'm disappointed. I was hoping to see your take on Giants... I'm quite sure terrifying wont even begin to describe.

Greetings!

Hey everyone! No, Giants aren't an immediate project. They could be in the future, of course, but I was simply doing some work on a module and was inspired by Giants. Giants are in the module, and I thought I would discuss Giants here with some friends. Really. I just think Giants are cool. Frost Giants, Fire Giants, Cloud Giants--they are all very interesting! I think they make great opponents if played properly, and, besides making terrifying opponents, can also make good npc characters and friends.

UUR-RAH!

Semper Fidelis,

SHARK

My name is Andrew and I love Giants! All kinds of giants. So much so that I have decided to feature them in the campaign I'm starting this fall. There is a race of giants who are the primary enemy to the barbarian clan the chars will come from and are favored by the gods above other races.

Oooh this is going to be fun!

I haven't decided which giants, but the idea I'm toying with is to break with giant alignment canon and have a somewhat integrated giant society. Probably with some sort of caste system putting the storm giants at the top of the heap and the hill giants doing menial labor.

fog giants, swamp giants, fomorian..the list goes on and on! The only stopping point for giants is your imagination..

and yes running the G1-3 series in 3e at the prescribed levels and the giants a tad bit smarter will anhilite the pc's. Trust me in know..
