Why not just play a Tiefling and really play up the appearance/background. All the RP goodness without the mechanical headaches.

Also, as others have said, high-LA races usually result in LESS powerful characters after a few levels. Those missing hit dice will really start to tell.

Right, with the Half-Fiend template class you can just take 1 or 2 levels if you'd like. No need to take it all. Plus you get to mix it up and add half-fiend temlate levels as you go, spreading the +4 LA (if you wanted to take all of them, no need to though) out across several levels to make them playable.

The description they give about them is perfect for a character seeking revenge as my chara does "Some depraved mortals voluntarily subject themselves to evil power in hopes of becoming more like fiends, and occasionally such tampering results in a half-fiend. "

So your level 4 character was kicked out of the Lower Planes because, at level 4, he tried to take on Orcus or Asmodeus?

The point is that you use the demons power against them, but at a cost. You WILL become CE however. Part of the PrC, and it can't be avoided.

Might fit your character just as well. You were banished for your crime with reduced power (start as a tiefling), and you reclaim it over time.

sounds nice. gotta check it out (we currently have like 8 books and that's all, the 3 MM, DM guide, PHB, and the rest have prestidge classes and stuff like the Dragon Rider, Samurai, Ninja, etc)
