Girl Gamer Stereotypes...or lack thereof?

Hmm, I have been gaming for a good 25 years now. I have gamed with several groups and at two different colleges – one mid-sized school, the other fairly large (the University of CT)… in all that time, I have gamed with a grand total of one woman.
If there's one stereotype I think I can claim of female gamers it's that they tend to not go out and seek new gaming groups. Most of the ones I've encountered still game with the people they did when they first joined the hobby.

This can make them seem a lot rarer than they are, because so many of them keep a low profile.

Well, if they're not, they should be! Guys are terrible - my girlfriend was actually leaning toward lesbian when I came along. I just hope I keep her interested enough. :D

Then again, she says I'm around 20% gay - gay enough to have good hair, be fashionable, and not be afraid of grooming.

So.

Dave you are Soooooooo dreamy :)

I mean, there's bi-sexual, but I didn't know someone could be 28.7 gay. That's just weird, man.
I agree.

I know several people who are 27.8% gay...

But 28.7? That's just absurd.

Bad example! I meant like a nightmare! I always get all the different types of magical horses mixed up...

And I meant gamer girls where as rare as unicorns... Yeah! That’s what I meant... Haven't seen a unicorn or a gamer girl and if I only got to pick one it would be the later...

*jumps out of the other dimension before the nightmare gets her*

Actualy there is a new term out for that: "metrosexual". It refers to straight men who are well groomed and stylish. I'm assuming there is a metro>urban>urbane play on words going on.
I prefer the older terminology:

Not a slob, or not a male-chauvenist pig.

There've always been a large number of neat, well gromed, fashionable and polite hetrosexual men. It just didn't get recognition until that stereotype got tied to gay men.

Sexuality has nothing to do with it though. How your momma raised you does.

*heinous blushing*

SO, HOW ABOUT THEM GAMER GIRL STEREOTYPES?!

*furiously pushes thread off the topic of how gay Dave is, and back onto it's original intent*

That's a fairly common quote in my peer group.

"How do I look"?
"Totally gay man"
"Gay how?"
"Gay like your hair is perfect, and your clothes look awesome!"

That's funny. I gotta use that one on my brother.

Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Dork, I will fear no opt-out spam: for thou art with me; thy PDA and thy Verizon wireless phone with a national plan and many monthly minutes, they comfort me. Thou gettest me a Noah's Bagel and a grande nonfat no-whip hot chocolate from the local Starbucks on Shoreline in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with environmentally correct hair products that have not been tested on animals; my cup of Jamba Juice (Aloha Pineapple, no bananas, sub blueberries, protein boost) runneth over.

My sterotype of a female gamer is identical to my sterotype of every woman: a girl who regards me as an icon of stallion-like manlihood!

... granted, this sterotype is, um, shall we say, frequently disproven ... but that doesn't mean I can't have it, gosh darn it!

Seriously: the women in my group are perhaps a little more quiet than the guys but that's about it. They enjoy the killshots as much as the next ... man. If I had to draw any kind of real sterotype I'd say they're more inclined to listen to verbal descriptions of places. The dudes just look at the battlemat.
