Girl Gamer Stereotypes...or lack thereof?

Interesting....

Um, I've met a lot of UK-based female gamers who are on these boards - two of them are in my current group. Around half are British, with a mix of other nationalities. I guess London may be a bit unusual though. :)

OK, point taken but considering the entire population of London, contains more people than the whole of Wales and Scotland put together, then that is probably the reason that you have managed to meet more UK-Based Female Gamers. Purely Demographics. There is just more of a chance of encountering a certain type of person in a massive city. I happen to live in North Wales and DnD/Roleplaying in general is quite few and far between not to mention an occasional femalke gamer. As in my last post on this thread, I was just lucky that I managed to get to play DnD with some very good female gamers from the USA, Trenton,NJ to be exact. Wonder if they still play ??? Hmmm....A pity that I don't live in London...I suppose....Cheers :)

You know, it occurred to me at lunch....

Gamer girls:
Don't wear make-up
Into non-traditional activities
Have an unusual circle of friends
Generally have lots of guy friends

GAMER GIRLS ARE LESBIANS!!

*ducks*
:D

Well, if they're not, they should be! Guys are terrible - my girlfriend was actually leaning toward lesbian when I came along. I just hope I keep her interested enough. :D

Then again, she says I'm around 20% gay - gay enough to have good hair, be fashionable, and not be afraid of grooming.

So.

Leaning towards lesbian??
20% gay???

Since when are sexuality fuzzy concepts? I mean, there's bi-sexual, but I didn't know someone could be 28.7 gay. That's just weird, man.

San Francisco, with it's ~30% gay population, is overcrowded with single women looking for anything male that moves and will pay attention to them...

Roughly 40 miles south of here the Silicon Valley begins, with a huge population of single wealthy men.

An awful lot of those 'single' women up in SF are lesbians. That would tend to make them not so interested in rich software geekboys...

I don't see many of my Silicon Valley gamer friends having trouble finding women, or gamer women, for that matter. There are an awful lot of us down here. I mean, if you're a female geek, where *else* are you going to live? This is Valley of the Dorks. People have the normal relationship issues, but it really isn't the stereotypical thing with lonely gamer men all chasing the same two cute female gamers.

Just ask Swack-Iron. :D

That's a fairly common quote in my peer group.

"How do I look"?
"Totally gay man"
"Gay how?"
"Gay like your hair is perfect, and your clothes look awesome!"

Actualy there is a new term out for that: "metrosexual". It refers to straight men who are well groomed and stylish. I'm assuming there is a metro>urban>urbane play on words going on.

What!??!!? :( :(

Unicorns don't exist?! Next you're going to tell me there is no such thing as fairies and that dragons "are not real".

Bad example! I meant like a nightmare! :p I always get all the different types of magical horses mixed up... ;)

And I meant gamer girls where as rare as unicorns... Yeah! That’s what I meant... Haven't seen a unicorn or a gamer girl and if I only got to pick one it would be the later... ;)
