Gleemax UGT Final 50?

Victoria Rules
So, did anyone here make it to the final 50 from that Ultimate Gamer Test on Gleemax? I sure didn't...

Apparently *nobody* scored perfect, which to me is quite amazing given how much how many people out there seem to know about games.

You know, I had kind of a strange experience with that test. I started it as a lark--but with a bit of a smug self assurance that I would do very well considering the amout of time I've spent on various geeky hobbies. After viewing the test, and quite honestly not knowing the majority of the answers save a couple designer questions and a mythology question, I got a strange feeling that I would find it hard to like someone who knew all of those anwers. Boy that sounds bad. It was simply searching for an applicatant that was so far removed from my experiences that I felt a little alienated--and that made me not want to really be a part of it. Strange huh? 'Course, perhaps I'm just jaded :p .

I'm on there- Scott Hall, of Rapid City, SD.

Not sure if I should be announcing that, with all the sour grapes on the Gleemax boards. I thought I was sunk when I saw some of the questions (one of my friends has been offering to teach me pinochle for years, but did I ever take him up on it? Noooo), but I guess I knew enough that guessing carried me the rest of the way. I do wish I could see my test so I know what I got right.

My mother-in-law gave us a camera for Christmas, so I've got what I need to make my video, just need to do it.

I couldn't take it - being in Australia and all - but from what I gathered, you needed a *broad* spectrum of gaming experience to get everything. I've got a broad spectrum (no, really!), but not that broad.

Cheers!

I don't see how it matters, m'self.

In, say, a reality TV program, the only value the audience gets is in the drama of successive people getting booted out. So, who those people are matters. In this, however, we (hopefully) get some value out of the people on the board - so, what really matters is who actually ends up giving gaming advice. The folks who don't quite make the cut are not really relevant.

Ouch. :( I hope they don't feel irrelevant.
It's just a pop culture quiz with a very narrow range. No need to insult those who don't pass. That's kinda mean.

I didn't make the cut?! I'm shocked! I was sure my coin flipping would win the day.

To be honest, I'm starting to feel that Gleemax probably won't matter much to me. I just don't have time for a great diversity of gaming, so the broad spectrum I'm feeling Gleemax will be trying to have won't be a draw for me. I'm also not convinced that, unlike EN World, the community itself will be something that will appeal to me. Perhaps I will be wrong, we'll see, but I'm not worrying a whole lot about it.

I'm much more concerned with the DI and how that will play out.

What? In this case, I'm not relevant either.

Relevance isn't a general trait, you know - it's always relative to a particular topic. The advisory board may well help shape the face of gaming for the next decade. For the folks around here, that's important, and knowing who on it and what they are like and what their qualifications are is similarly important. The folks (myself included) who don't get on the board aren't important to the functioning of the board - thus, not relevant.

I made it, but I'm not sure I have time to make the video. I've got to paint my daughter's bedroom this week while I've got the time...
