gluing basics?

I picked up a pile of Chainmail minis from the SV Games sale, but there's more assembly than I'm used to (I'm normally a Reaper man). Any advice for an inexperienced gluer? Am I an idiot for planning to use regular model glue?

Also, you may want to pick up some Games Workshop "Green Stuff" if you end up having gaps or just really awkward glue points. That stuff works miracles.

Happy Modelling! Show us what you come up with when they're done.

And you could always drill holes (with a hand-driller) and use little metal sticks to connect the different parts of the model.

Superglue is one possible solution (I use the "gel" variant). Another would be "two part epoxy" - doesn't glue as fast, but is really tough (my father used to say: if the miniature ever breaks, it surely won't break at the glued part.")

And: you can get your "Green Stuff" from different producers, not only GW (in fact I didn't even know that GW produced it...).

(Edit: corrected the epoxy)

GW doesn't even produce greenstuff, they just take Knedatite and repackage it for you (for a fee, of course :D).

Plastic model cement is definitley NOT the way to go; the stuff is strictly for bonding plastic to plastic. Use superglue (I'm fond of zap a gap, but generic superglue will work just as well). You could use two part epoxy, but I find the stuff is a hassle (even when you're dealing with big parts).
