There's no way through Gmail as it is to do that. Now, what some little code-monkey may have whipped up already? I dunno. That's not my strong suit. But applying labels really doesn't seem like a big deal to me. I relabeled roughly 200 emails in just a few minutes the other day.

Depends on how you do it. If you do a search to bring back all emails that match your filter criteria, hit the 'all' link, add the label - it's not that difficult. biggest problem might be if you're bringing back multiple pages of stuff for the search, and even then that's not too much work.
