Gods, "ooooo, I wanna be one"

Corlon

First Post
And the answer is, no curran (a player in my campaign) you can't be one, but I just wanted to ask if there are any specific rules to becoming a god. I bought the book faiths and pantheons and read all of it (skipped a bunch of the god entries, they get boring). The book tells all about a heck of a lot of the gods and some of their stats (too bad I don't get corellon and grumsh, but hey) and it also says that really powerful PCs or NPCs can become gods, but it never says how.

I thought of using this mabye for a lv 30-40 person becomes a low power god, and wages a war with his followers on I minor church or the "Great Mother" or somethin, it could add a nice backround touch, or a place for battle for the PCs.

I was thinking as long as the person got enough worshippers, worshipping him for a god, and not just a ruler, he could get rank 0 or 1 or something.

Any ideas??

Do you have Deities and Demigods? There's no specific mechanism in there, but they discuss the issue somewhat.

I've been toying with the idea of a 20-level Ascendant prestige class that substitutes for the 20 outsider HD most gods have and gradually brings in the domain powers and stuff of a deity, but among other things I would have requirements for _each level_ of ascendant.

Hmm, mabye I'll just ad-hoc it.. It doesn't really matter I guess, the PCs aren't really smart enough to do any deep research probaby.

heheh, well sometimes you get a bit too smart, but you still dont' delve to deeply in research, town life, or politics, and don't say I don't let you, I let you do what you want! (except contradict my rules, heheh, remember the dire tiger with the long sticky tongue)

you just contridicted one too many times.

Heck Yeah! I like this idea! Post it when you finish up.

Kick it on over to this thread. After much waiting, he's expecting the thing to hit print as soon as D&Dg goes to the SRD. :)

Actually, while U-K's ILH seems interesting, I really would like to see a PrC that follows the same 'rules' D&Dg does. JMHO

That, and the ILH is also just like Duke Nukem Forever: lot's of hype, no release in sight. ;)

D&Dg doesn't seem to follow a lot of its own rules. Mortals that have ascended aren't supposed to have the 20 outsider HD anyways...
