Good class to add to dragons?

I'd argue that sorceror levels, at the very least stack. The SRD states "Spells: A dragon knows and casts arcane spells as a sorcerer of the level indicated in its variety description, gaining bonus spells for a high Charisma score. Some dragons can also cast spells from the cleric list or cleric domains as arcane spells." Clearly, these are not spell-like abilities (especially since the next entry is "Spell-Like Abilities."

Therefore, when it says they cast spells as a sorceror, I read that to mean that they do so exactly like a sorceror. Since I can't take levels as a Sor 1/Sor 1/Sor 1 (even though I might like to have a variety of familiars), I'd say a young gold dragon (casts as a Sor 1) with two levels of Sorceror would be a Sor 3. That makes the most sense, especially given the link between Draconic Blood and sorcery.

If a dragon were given monk levels, would it attack using the unarmed BAB/damae or the standard one?

Since you can choose which one, you'd be better off using the standard one.

I was wondering about that....

I would assume that you would have to start over (so an Adult Black Dragon/Sorc 3 would cast spells as Sorc 3 (dragon) and Sorc 3 (class) with two different spell lists and sets of spell slots.

Mostly because if it didn't work like that a dragon adding sorc levels would be getting some pretty good spells while a dragon adding wizard levels would be learning 1st level spells.

Direct-to-PrC might be cool. Maybe a plane hopping Dragon with Shifter levels?

Actually thinking maybe a few levels in blood witch OR perhaps even Adept of the Flame might be cool for red Dragon.

Definately if you're talking about Slacerian Dragon, Mindbender.

Hmm... Fun with Prestige Classes.

The Draconic Drunken Master
"I'm going to kill you... hic... just as soon as the floor stops moving." (For real fun, imagine a corkscrew attack from a Collosal Gold Dragon.)

The Draconic Assassin
DM: A dragon suddenly appears behind you, poison dripping from his claws. He attacks during the surprise round. Fortitude Save of DC 32 or die. Plus another fortitude save for the poison on the claws.

The Draconic Devoted Defender
DM: A dragon swoops down from the sky and sweeps your intended target out of danger right before you can strike. He glares at you menacingly.

Player: My mistake, I think I have the wrong villain. Bye!

The Draconic Dragon Disciple
"Huh. That was useless. Well, I'll never get THOSE levels back."

The Draconic Alienist
"Fear the might of my psuedonatural creatures, you vile... ACK! Aaaaaagh! Keep the human away from me! Arrrrgh! It's so disgusting and slimy and..." (The dragon flees.)

"OKay, so the Great Wyrm Red Dragon hovers for a bit, brings up an 3x Empowered Endurance, Shield, Favour of Illmater, and Tenser's Transformation. He then lands, and goes into a Rage and a Frenzy. Let's see.. he's a 10th level Frenzied Berzerker, so he has a total of 5 Frenzies per day, and his Con is currently 40.. so each one lasts for 18 rounds. During that time, thanks to his Deathless Frenzy ability he cannot die from hit point loss until he is no longer able to Frenzy any longer, in which case his Contingency: Heal goes off with the trigger: Would Die From Hit Point Loss. Go ahead and roll for initiative, by the way."

Dragon with access to cleric spells +Barbarian +Frenzied Berzerker. Mm Mm Good.

DM: At long last, you have defeated the dragon.

Players: Dude, that fight SUCKED. I'd swear that that dragon was the toughest, strongest, NASTIEST dragon we'd ever fought. And it sundered a LOT of our equipment! Alright, let's get into the cave and check out the loot!

DM: You enter the cave. The foul stench clings to your skin--

Players: Blah blah blah. LOOT!

DM: You see an enormous pile of coins, a well-ordered collection of art objects, and a veritable trove of gems.

Players: And?

DM: Nope. Nothing else. That's it.

Players [in dawning comprehension and horror]: Son of a... STUPID FORSAKER DRAGONS!

While dragons get horrific Hide penalties, I've found that draconic skill points more than make up for it. Once you put 30 or so ranks into Hide and wear a Ring of the Chameleon to get that +15 Hide bonus, you can account quite well for yourself in the shadows.

As such, a draconic shadowdancer is the next logical step. :D

"Naw, he's not here, but dang this place is dark, all these rock formations cast shadows on the walls, it looks kinda like YAAAAAARGCHOMPCLAWCLAWWINGWINGTAIL..."
