Goodman Games embracing 4e!

If around half of their products released after October 1st are marked 4e (GSL), wouldn't you feel it is safe to say that Goodman Games are "going GSL"?

I think you are splitting hairs on language.

Why would they write 4e(GSL) next to the product, then? Seems quite a bit misleading, opening them for all sorts of trouble. I know the stuff released before October 1st is not GSL (obviously) but it looks like what comes after will be, which fits with what Mr. Goodman has said on his boards...

I clicked on all the DCC links above and did not find the notation. It was only on the other 4e ones. This difference seemed striking to me and combined with them having made 4e ones outside of the GSL and knowing the consequences of adopting the GSL for a product line this seemed more likely that it was intentional.

GSL as it is currently constructed has implications for forever dropping pdf sales of OGL in the same product line.

If Goodman's DCC line goes GSL then the 50+ DCCs under the OGL can no longer be bought by customers as a pdf. If Goodman makes new DCCs for 4e but not under the GSL (as they have been doing) this allows them to keep selling the 3.0, 3.5, and C&C DCCs, regardless of whether other Goodman products are released under the GSL.

I think there is an incentive for Goodman to continue producing DCCs after Oct. 1 that are 4e compatible but not released under the GSL.

I don't know what they plan to actually do, but the inclusion and omission of the GSL notation as applied to their 4e product along the DCC/NonDCC line looks like it could be intentional. It could, of course, be just a wierd coincidence and everything 4e released after Oct 1 will be under the GSL.

We shall see.

I don't think it is a mistake.

The monster book (non-DCC) features the 4E logo on the splash page.
Goodman Games

The DCC splash pages do not.

Goodman is totally playing both side against the middle. And since they made it through to October without a cease & desist letter, looking like they gambled with the ancient red wyrm and won.

You are probably right. ;)

After looking at the links again, I must agree that it looks like GG is playing both sides of the field or whatever you say in English.

I hope it goes well for them.

Cheers
